R1 RCM company history timeline

2003

Prior to joining Aon in 2003, Kate worked at CIGNA where she was a graduate of the HR Leadership Program.

R1 RCM was founded as Accretive Health in 2003 by Mary Tolan and Michael Cline.

2004

Wes joined R1 in 2004 and now serves as Executive Vice President, Integration.

2008

Chris joined R1 in 2008 and serves as Executive Vice President, Patient Operations and Customer Solutions.

2012

In July 2012, Accretive Health entered into a $2.5 million settlement with the Minnesota Attorney General following an investigation into the company's debt collection practices.

2013

In April 2013, Mary Tolan stepped down as CEO. Tolan was replaced by former Dell executive Stephen Schuckenbrock.

Joe joined R1 in June 2013 and serves as Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors.

Gary created a professional and sustainable market-focused organization while leading the business up to and beyond its successful IPO in 2013.

As a consequence, in 2013, Accretive Health entered into a 20-year settlement with the Federal Trade Commission over its data security measures.

2014

In March 2014, as a result of missed financial restatements, Accretive Health was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.

2015

Corey joined R1 in January 2015 and serves as Chief Compliance Officer and Executive Vice President, Compliance & Risk.

In 2015, Ascension selected Accretive Health as its exclusive hospital revenue cycle partner.

2016

Joe served as Chief Operating Officer prior to May 2016 and was instrumental in creating and standardizing the R1 Performance Stack℠. Previously, Joe served as a Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations and Supply Chain at Applied Materials, Inc.

2017

Sean joined R1 in February 2017 and serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

In the fall of 2017, Corey was featured in Profile Magazine in highlighting his and R1’s perspective and approach to ensuring ethical practices and processes throughout the company’s culture and workforce.

In 2017, Accretive Health was renamed as R1 RCM.

In mid-2017, R1 RCM announced a further expansion of the agreement with Ascension to include an additional $1.5B in net patient revenue handled, which included physician group revenue cycle services.

2018

Kate joined R1 in November, 2018 as Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer.

2020

Rachel joined R1 in June 2020 as Executive Vice President, Chief Finance Officer and Treasurer.

2021

Harvey joined R1 in July 2021 and serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer.
