Communicate with dispatcher/coordinator to ensure priorities and deadlines are met in both the field and laboratory.
Meet with supervisors of contractors, engineer/architect representatives and/or other project leads on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.
Following safety protocols, ensure safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all nuclear gauges and field equipment.
Communicate project progress and delays to supervisor and dispatcher.
Submit accurate and complete testing/inspection reports on a daily basis.
Drive company vehicles to job sites in a safe manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm's auto insurability requirements.
Traveling Construction Materials Technician II:
At least 1 year of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry and possess at least 2 or more industry certifications
Traveling Construction Materials Technician III:
At least 3 years of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry and possess 3 or more industry certifications
Relevant industry certification from ACI, NICET, TXDOT, ICC, PTI, or other comparable industry certifications as approved by hiring manager.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to write short correspondences, notes, letters and memos. About the role

Use calibrated measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, optical comparators, video inspection microscopes, profilometers where applicable) to verify critical dimensions and tolerances.
Execute first piece inspections

Performs repair and maintenance operations necessary to prevent breakdown and major overhauls on machine tools, fabrication machines and welding equipment such as hydraulic presses, radial drill presses, jig borers, milling machines, boring mills, shears, punch presses, and equipment of similar complexity.
Examines equipment for defects or faulty operation.
Determines proper method of dismantling machinery to gain access to trouble discovered and uses a variety of mechanics tools.
Obtains replacement parts, and/or drawing sketches if necessary.
Sets up and operates various machine tools required for parts being repaired or forwards materials and sketches to machine shop for manufacture of parts.
May perform metalizing or parts.
Checks for proper dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
Reassembles equipment and tests for proper operation.
