Key job responsibilities

Public Safety Analyst

Purpose Assists with the implementation, coordination, training and analysis of the park ranger law enforcement program for the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks. Assists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and directives pertaining to the ranger program and safety of employees and visitors.
Reports significant incidents to Metro Parks' Leadership
Maintains the Incident Report database. Enters data and information for reports and records into system and monitors various accounts and department budgets.
Responds to accidents and emergencies and administers first aid and CPR in accordance with level of training completed as necessary.
Assists Park Managers with local liaison activities with local police and fire departments, service organizations and the general public.
Works with various police departments regarding the development and implementation of mutual aid agreements.
Performs various investigations as assigned. Conducts and assists in internal investigations. Works with other law enforcement agencies on investigations as appropriate.
Maintains the ranger training database.
Assists with developing and maintaining the Disaster Plan for park district and individual parks.
Provides operational support and administrative support to the Field Training Officer program coordinators.
Participates in special events and assists with the staffing for special events throughout the district.
May participate in the interview and selection of Park Rangers.
May work shifts as a Park Ranger.
Assists park staffs in using statewide databases during investigations.

Assists the Human Resources team with tracking, scheduling, and maintaining records pertaining to Hepatitis B, Audiology Hearing Tests, and CDL Drug Testing.

Qualifications
Education/Experience
Completion of secondary education (high school or GED) plus additional vocational/technical training or other specialized formal education or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an associated public safety or law enforcement field. Proficient in the use of a personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, etc. Ability to learn new computer software quickly and troubleshoot problems. Knowledge of Columbus Metro Parks and its facilities and programs is required. Public speaking experience and experience in scheduling, coordinating and presenting training required.

Definition AREA OF FOCUS FOR THE JOB AND SPECIFIC FOCUS AREA RESPONSIBILITIES The Columbus Division of Police, Public Records Section, is hiring a Public Safety Analyst to research, organize, evaluate, and prepare public records for distribution to the public in a complete manner and within the guidelines prescribed by law. This position requires the use of computers with numerous software applications, as well as other electronic and non-electronic equipment to fulfil the records requests.
Under direction, is responsible for performing professional-level research, analysis, and recommendation to management on matters related to a specialized public safety function; performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge in the area of one or more specialized public safety functions and related procedures; considerable knowledge of specialized public safety objectives and practices; general knowledge of the proper handling of records and information to ensure security of confidential and protected personal information; general knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration; general knowledge of departmental selection criteria and the civil service hiring process; some knowledge of research techniques and methodologies; ability to read, comprehend and interpret detailed written information; ability to analyze complex information and make logical conclusions; ability to interpret, adapt and apply written guidelines, precedents, and standardized policies and procedures to a variety of situations; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to communicate tactfully with people of various educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds; ability to conduct interviews in a manner that puts individuals at ease and encourages cooperation; ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments; ability to operate a computer and utilize related software.
DESCRIPTION/LISTING/ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE SELECTION PROCESS

For any position within the Division of Police, the hiring process will also include the completion of an extensive personal history questionnaire and a polygraph examination. Conducts field investigations of personal and professional backgrounds for sworn and civilian job candidates;

Compiles and prepares thorough and detailed investigative reports and maintains related records;
Researches, compiles, and interprets information gathered from diverse sources;
Conducts or participates in reviews of operational, procedural, or managerial issues affecting the department or division;
Responds verbally and/or prepares written responses to requests for information from internal and external sources;
Writes and/or prepares technical standards, manuals, policies, procedures, and guidelines;
Redacts necessary sensitive information as required for public records requests;
Completes special projects as requested by division, department, or City administration;
Researches and compiles statistical information related to departmental functions;
May supervise subordinate staff within a specialized public safety unit;
May travel to conduct out-of-town investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree. Substitution(s): Additional experience performing duties related to a specialized public safety function or activity may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Some positions may require possession of LEADS/BCI certification prior to completion of the probationary period.
Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license.

Work Environment
This position involves a mix of office work and on-site safety activities across multiple farm locations. The Safety Specialist must be comfortable in various agricultural settings, which may involve exposure to different climate conditions, including extreme temperatures. Some travel between sites is required. The role may involve responding to safety incidents outside normal business hours. POSITION SUMMARY
To ensure that Carter Express, Inc has an effective driver onboarding and training program through which the company can retain safe and professional drivers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and facilitate local driver orientation.
Create a positive first impression of Carter Express, Inc. for newly hired drivers.
Set up technology for hosting weekly orientation class.
Manage orientation paperwork completion and communicate back to the orientation group.
Answer driver's questions or communicate with specific departments for answers to inquiries.
Assist the Safety Department with daily tasks.
Monitor triggered SmartDrive event videos, counseling drivers on unsafe behaviors and documenting the counseling.
Coordinator should conduct a minimum of 25 coaching events per week.
Coaching can and should include positive phone calls to drivers with low scores.
Coordinator will update driver counseling record daily.
Coordinator will assist Director of Safety in virtual coaching sessions.
Assist with Samsara HOS edits when required.
Conduct accident/injury investigations and report them to corporate headquarters.
Complete safety incident root cause analysis and provide corrective action recommendations.
Provide ongoing additional driver training for new drivers and remedial training as necessary.
Act as local Driver Relations representative for Vandalia Drivers
Coordinator will be a liaison between the drivers and local and corporate management on any issue the drivers may experience.
Coordinator will make 3-5 outbound “check-in” calls a week to Vandalia drivers (can be combined with positive coaching calls sometimes).
Coordinator will maintain communication with corporate Driver Relations team on check-in calls and any issues that arise.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
Trucking or Logistics Experience Preferred.
CDL Preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic computer and Microsoft product skills required.
