Under the supervision of the CT Supervisor, Medical Director and Radiology Management Team, the Senior CT Technologist plans, directs and coordinates all technical activities performed in the CT Department. Responsibility for development and implementation of CT protocols to assure lowest possible dose (ALARA), consistent installation of protocols across all equipment to ensure the highest level of image quality. CT protocols are developed with the Medical Director for the division and are reviewed by a physicist to assure that radiation doses do not exceed those recommended by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This is also a float position where the Senior CT Technologist will work with leadership to help cover potential staffing needs in other departments.

Details and Tasks: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate to the unit.
Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with Radiology Department policies and procedures.
Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to the facility's protocol.
Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.
Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with facility policy.
As directed, perform system calibrations and quality control tasks according to the manufacturer and facility's policy. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.
Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying designated Government personnel. Report problems to the Biomedical Repair Section and record the problem condition in the trouble call logbook.
Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient's condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention. Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Saturday, 8 hour shifts between 7:30 and 4:30pm including a one-hour uncompensated meal break.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate certificate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
Experience: Possess minimum one (1) year full-time experience as a diagnostic radiologic technologist.
Licensure: Must be ARRT certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
Life Support Certifications: Possess a current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
Security: Must be able to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.

Download images from CD, pull up images on PACS and label downloaded images onto PACS system as required or needed. Perform Daily QA/QC of imaging to verify quality and consistency in diagnostic imaging.
Aid and assist providers and staff during procedures, including patient positioning that demonstrate the best anatomy, moving radiology equipment, providing radiation protective devices and complying with ALARA and provider standards and preferences.
Recognize which scheduled exams require radiology; order and aide in those exams and perform according to planned and/or emergency situations.
Demonstrate diplomacy and tact in interpersonal interactions with patients, management, clinic staff and physicians.
Assist in the training/education of staff in radiation safety and acquisition of diagnostic imaging.
Maintain required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports.
Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs. Perform quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Comply with safety standards.
Maintain radiographic supplies, and orders as necessary, and stock room. Assist with patient turn over
