Completes incident reports and anesthesia records when necessary. Reports all technical problems to the supervisor or senior technologist. Assists Radiologist with interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages. Informs Radiologist of scan results when anomalies or abnormalities are visible. Schedules patient exams and revises daily schedules to accommodate emergency exams from MedSTAR, ER, and other units. Cleans and maintains an aseptic working environment for each patient. Films CT scan images and archive exams onto tape or optical disk. Ensures adequate supplies are available and is responsible for replenishing supply levels. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees and students. Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, exam, and other necessary functions are correctly entered and maintained. This role is responsible for operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment to assist radiologists and/or physicians in diagnosing and treating disease and injury. Exposure to disease, radiation, and toxic chemicals in the course of performing the work. Mental/Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with an X-Ray Technician such as standing six to eight hours per day. Involves some bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting, turning, kneeling, and pushing, and pulling. Heavy lifting 75+ lbs. required to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress when working with anxious patients.
