Minimum Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, perform routine and highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures on members following established parameters/protocols for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Assist in maintaining a smooth operational flow and maximum member volume. The cardiovascular-interventional technologist assumes many roles within an interventional procedure. Cardiovascular-interventional technologists: Scrub in and assist the physician in the surgical procedure. Circulate within the procedure room and procure all equipment needed for any given procedure. Position the member, select radiation exposure parameters and image the member. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and an awareness of all radiation and member safety issues involved with any invasive procedure. Demonstrate a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal anatomy, abnormal anatomy and physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies and equipment operation. Recognize and resolve equipment operations. Recognize and resolve equipment problems and discrepancies anticipate member needs and concerns and determine the appropriate care needed. Use professional judgment and critical thinking when performing procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to but not limited to medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, including consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
Operates angiography equipment and applies ionizing radiation to the member in accordance with standard operating procedures, departmental policies, procedures/protocols and as appropriate for the particular member.
Positions members and moves and or assists members onto table. Provides for the members comfort during the procedures.
Performs angiography and digital subtraction angiography procedures, utilizing image-guided surgical procedures, sterile technique and radiographic technique.
Operates laser imagers, and Radiographic / Fluoroscopic equipment to obtain radiographic images. Critiques radiographs for quality and accuracy. Selects and films images for permanent member record.
Provides radiation protection in accordance with regulations. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual member basis.
Reviews history and pertinent films with Interventional Radiologist or Cardio-Vascular Surgeon to assure appropriate application of procedure. Discusses plan and equipment necessary for the procedure.
Assists physicians with specialized diagnostic and interventional procedures by handling equipment, preparing procedure and instrument trays, prepping and explaining procedures to members and other related tasks under the supervision of a Radiologist. May include the insertion of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs) with certification and documented training.
Sets up and maintains a sterile field by using sterile technique; opens sterile procedures trays where applicable.
In conjunction with the RNs and Interventional Radiologist or Cardio-Vascular Surgeons, monitors member condition throughout the procedure. Uses EKG equipment, Intravenous pumps, Blood Pressure equipment, pulse oximeter and related routine equipment to maintain continuous member care while member is undergoing procedure.
Prepares radiopaque materials for administration by Interventional Radiologist or Cardio-Vascular Surgeon. Opens contrast material, maintaining integrity of the sterile syringes, needles, and draws-up contrast for injection in accordance with departmental procedures.
Assists Interventional Radiologist or Cardio-Vascular Surgeon with administration of radiopaque materials by setting volume and flow rates.
Cleans and disinfects angiography equipment and procedure room. Troubleshoots technical and mechanical problems, i.e. laser imagers and film processors.
Records member data as required in health record, including appropriate ICD-9 and CPT codes, as appropriate.
Reviews requests daily for Interventional procedures and assists in prioritizing for a smooth workflow.
Communicates effectively with members, nurses, and physicians, particularly regarding information on angiography procedures requiring specialized member preparation.
Communicates, and assists the Interventional Radiologist or Cardio-Vascular Surgeon in developing and modifying angiography/interventional practices/procedures.
Handles telephone inquiries regarding physician and/or member information relative to angiography procedures in an effective and appropriate manner. Performs miscellaneous clerical functions, as needed.
Assists in maintaining correct inventory.
Other duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective:
The CT/X-Ray Technologist performs various types of diagnostic X-Ray procedures and CT examinations. Adjusts equipment settings, determines proper voltage and exposure and positions patient. Performs specific procedures utilizing ionizing radiation and cross-sectional anatomical scans using proper technical factors and computer programs to provide image and numerical values of tissue density. Assists in assigned examination utilizing contrast media and/or specific tomographic examinations.
Essential Functions
1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
3. Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
4. Performs exams while attending to patient's care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient's condition changes at any time.
5. Transfers images to other locations as needed.
6. Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
7. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
8. Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.

Essential Responsibilities:
This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Ensures patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to but not limited to medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, including consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
Instructs patient in a courteous manner regarding imaging procedures. Positions patients and operates mammographic and or radiographic equipment. Performs radiographic procedures, both fixed and portable. Reviews images for accuracy and technical quality according to established standards. Repeats images as needed; submits images for interpretation by radiologist or designee. Practices ALARA principles and ensures proper radiation safety practices.
Assists with procedures; follows established guidelines; provides patient education; obtains informed consent as needed; documents appropriate information as required; practices sterile techniques and standard precautions. Documents all quality control as required for MQSA.
Utilizes Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) following established practice guidelines.
Follows established quality assurance/quality control program. Monitors the operating condition of the equipment and accessories. Contacts service engineer and promptly reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
Maintains inventory of supplies used, according to established levels.
Communicates clearly, effectively and appropriately both verbally and with written communication. Demonstrates courteous and appropriate telephone skills. Considers the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients in the age group served.
Exercises clinical judgment within scope of practice.
May work with students and may be required to work at the reception desk or on the phones to schedule appointments.

Responsibilities
The Radiology Technologist/X-Ray Tech is responsible for performing patient care duties under the Radiology scope of practice in the urgent care setting as follows:

X-ray Technician Duties

Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during the x-ray exam
Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members
Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to Center Operations Director
Ensure all Radiology workflows are followed and all Radiology reports cross correctly to EMR
Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient x-ray visit.
Maintain all x-ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures, and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Medical Support Specialist Duties
Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing
Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
Assist providers during examination and treatment
Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed
Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care
Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician

Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms

In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume
Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit

Job Summary:The Radiology Technician will perform multiple procedures under the direction of specialized physicians, including the operation of special imaging and radiology equipment. Skilled at sterile field assistance during operating room and pain management procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Outpatient diagnostic Radiology, Fluoroscopy
* Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by physician; adjust equipment for proper exposure, voltage and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
* Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment; explain x ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient condition to attending medical staff.
* Monitor accessory equipment and assist attending physician with fluoroscopic examinations and special radiographic studies.
* Record amount and type of film exposed; label film with identifying information; sort as required.
* Consult with lead x-ray tech and radiologist to ensure compliance with established standards of quality.
* Process film in accordance with standardized procedures and maintain assigned work area in clean and orderly condition.
* Strong teamwork skills, utilizing "down time" to perform other assigned tasks, including room turnovers, restocking warmer, specialty carts, etc.
