Job Summary:
Operates radiology equipment to produce radiographic images of specified areas of the body and performs related technical x-ray procedures, in accordance with physicians orders and standard techniques, procedures or specific instructions. Makes members/patients and their needs a primary focus of ones actions; develops and sustains productive member/patient relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. Builds rapport and cooperative relationship with members/patients. Considers how actions or plans will affect members; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs and resolves problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to but not limited to medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, including consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
+ Instructs patient in a courteous manner regarding imaging procedures. Positions patients and operates mammographic and or radiographic equipment. Performs radiographic procedures, both fixed and portable. Reviews images for accuracy and technical quality according to established standards. Repeats images as needed; submits images for interpretation by radiologist or designee. Practices ALARA principles and ensures proper radiation safety practices.
+ Assists with procedures (example: Biopsy), follows established guidelines; provides patient education; obtains informed consent as needed; documents appropriate information as required; practices sterile techniques and standard precautions. Documents all quality control as required for MQSA.
+ Utilizes Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) following established practice guidelines.
+ Follows established quality assurance/quality control program. Monitors the operating condition of the equipment and accessories. Contacts service engineer and promptly reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
+ Maintains inventory of supplies used, according to established levels.
+ Communicates clearly, effectively and appropriately both verbally and with written communication. Demonstrates courteous and appropriate telephone skills. Considers the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients in the age group served.
+ Exercises clinical judgment within scope of practice.
+ May operates radiology equipment housed in a mobile coach and may be required to drive a mobile radiology coach.
+ May work with students and may be required to work at the reception desk or on the phones to schedule appointments.
+ Performs other duties as required.

* Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs in a timely manner and following written procedures for placing service calls.
* Perform and record quantity and quality control checks to assure x-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
* Maintain a neat, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times by adhering to established infection control procedures and hygiene protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
* Follow safety standards set by the compliance department and participate in annual training, reporting any safety or compliance concern promptly within our compliance tracking system.
* Use only equipment trained to use and operate all equipment in a safe manner.
Departmental Expectations

Knowledge/Skills Abilities Required
* Must hold current state issued X-Ray Technology certificate or license and actively participate in professional development activities while maintaining professional affiliations and certifications.
* 1-2 years of prior orthopedic radiology experience preferred.
* Knowledge and understanding of the principals and physics of radiation including safety hazards common to radiology.
* Knowledge of EMR system (we currently use EPIC), HIPAA, and OSHA requirements.
* Knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, surgical procedures as well as treatment modalities.
* Exceptional computer, interpersonal, communication, patient care, and customer service skills.
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize, remain calm under pressure, and work with little supervision.

Two (2) years of experience working as a radiologytechnician or similar role.
ARRT certification.

· Perform and record quantity and quality control checks to assure x-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.

Medical Support Specialist Duties
Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing
Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
Assist providers during examination and treatment
Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed
Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care
Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations
Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center
Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected
In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume
Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit
Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping
Ensure accuracy in documentation
Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed
Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required
Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility
Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly.
