Summary:
The CT Tech operates computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. They prepare patients for the procedure, position patients with considerations for safety and image accuracy, ensure proper imaging protocols are followed, and work closely with radiologists to obtain high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. CT Techs also maintain equipment, keep patient records, and follow safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure and provide compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process.
Essential Work Functions:
Operate CT equipment to produce cross-sectional images of bones, organs, and tissue for diagnostic purposes
Prepare patients for procedures, explain imaging process, and position patients appropriately
Set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology
Provide high-quality images to Radiologist for interpretation
Adhere to radiation safety standards and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CT equipment to ensure proper functionality
Document patient information, imaging parameters, and procedural details accurately in the hospital's system
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely diagnostic services
Ability to adapt to different CT equipment and protocols across various healthcare facilities
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of CT Tech practice
Required Essential Skills:

Provides input and assists with maintaining department policies, procedures, and product information.
Provides patient demographics and reports to hospital billing system.
Ensures correct patient exam is filed so charges are accurate for billing.

6. Communicates effectively.

Assist with administrative and clinical needs as appropriate, such as patient registration and medical assisting duties. Responsibilities
Greet patients and explain procedures to patients in a compassionate manner
Position patients appropriately for diagnostic imaging procedures
Practice ALARA radiation protection techniques
Process images, review for proper identification and quality control and prepare images for reading by a physician as well as radiologist overreads
Utilize both digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all policies and procedures
Aid provider with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocol as necessary.
Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed
Serve as Medical Receptionist and/or Medical Assistant if/when needed within appropriate guidelines
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QualificationsAssociate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training. ARRT-registered or board eligible preferred. Licensed per state regulation. In some states, Medical Assistant Certification or registry, Practical Nursing License, EMT or Paramedic certification is acceptable. Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous CT/X-Ray Technologist (ARRT-CT) to join an acute care imaging department. The Technologist is a crucial member of the radiology team, responsible for operating GE VCT 64 slice and GE Revolution 128 slice CT scanners and performing a wide range of CT and X-ray imaging, requiring coverage in the OR, ED, and Endo. This role demands proficiency, flexibility, and adherence to strict compliance policies, including a non-negotiable fingernail policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain GE VCT 64 slice and GE Revolution 128 slice CT scanners to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging.
Perform varied CT and X-Ray studies and related procedures as required.
Float and provide coverage to critical areas including the Operating Room (OR), Emergency Department (ED), Endoscopy (Endo), and general X-ray rooms.
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all patient exams and charge capture using EPIC EMR and McKesson PACS.
Adhere strictly to the hospital's no artificial nails policy in all patient care areas.
Participate in a rotating weekday on-call schedule and fulfill a weekend commitment every 3rd weekend and holidays as scheduled.
Qualifications:
Active State License (Required for submission).
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology (Assumed).
ARRT-CT (Certified CT Technologist) and BLS are REQUIRED.
REQUIRED experience with GE VCT 64 slice and GE Revolution 128 slice CT scanners.
Minimum of 1-2 years of recent X-ray or CT experience is preferred.

1. Performs a variety of radiographic procedures for radiographic diagnosis as requested by the healthcare provider.
Provides radiological services by exemplifying the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform a variety of radiographic procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis.
Assesses the patient determining their ability to comply with the physical requirements of the examination to minimize patient or examination problems.
Enters proper technical parameters into the x-ray generating equipment to enhance visualization for best imaging per protocol.

5. Performs patient documentation and completes necessary office duties.
Ensures patient reports are received in a timely manner for the health care provider. Ensures patient charges are accurately documented using the EHR system.
Provides input and assists with maintaining department policies, procedures, and product information.
Provides patient demographics and reports to hospital billing system.
Ensures correct patient exam is filed so charges are accurate for billing.

6. Communicates effectively.

Under the direction of a physician and with little supervision, performs procedures, using diagnostic imaging equipment designed for radiographic imaging. Provides health care services as needed, using radiographic equipment to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Performs procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides patient care and recognizes essential critical thinking skills needed for successful completion of procedure.
* Uses and discloses patient protected health information: 1) Only as it applies to job function, 2) in amounts minimally necessary for intended purposes, and 3) in a confidential manner.
Essential Functions
* Proper assessment of the patient and their abilities to participate in ordered procedure. Provides a clear explanation of the procedure including; duration, process, and what to expect following completion. Verifies informed consent for and assists physician with interventional procedures; needle localization, aspiration, biopsies, and other invasive procedures. Practices aseptic and sterile techniques as necessary and observes universal precautions. Provides patient education as appropriate.
* Selection of the proper equipment, setting correct technical factors, procedure protocols and gathers proper supplies prior to performance of the procedure. Recognizes all radiation safety standards including "Image Gently" and "Image Wisely" and MR safety standards. Understands and follows all rules around radiation protection including wearing of lead protection when utilizing fluoroscopy or when there is a possibility of exposure i.e. CT room, performing portable exams etc.
* Obtains clear and complete history from the patient and or patient record and records that data into patient record to assist in image interpretation and future patient encounters.
* Is able to perform quality assessment of images obtained and is able to evaluate equipment issues and reports assessment to supervisor, manager or director.
* Ensures all equipment is in working order at the beginning of the day and prior to starting of a procedure. Performs any performance and quality tests on equipment as required including ACR quality requirements. Checks all supplies for outdates prior to use and reports any shortages, variations or failures of equipment to supervisor, manager or director for follow-up. Uses CHI incident reporting system to report any patient injuries or concerns, equipment or supply failures or malfunctions, medication reaction or errors, and visitor or personal injury or exposure.
* Is responsible to participate in and have a good understanding of all department, campus and system quality improvement projects, the ACR accreditation process, Radiation Safety, ALARA, MQSA, and State Regulations as they apply to staffs license or certifications. Be familiar with the requirements of CMS and Joint Commission and be able to speak to all department processes around quality and environment of care.
