HOURLY RANGE: $34.00 - $40.29 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the operation of radiographic equipment to acquire imaging for diagnostic purposes at Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC). The incumbent utilizes the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS), Hospital Information System (HIS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) to distribute images and reports. This is technical work involving the operation of and administration of ionizing radiation to patients for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic quality imaging. Work is performed under the general supervision of a licensed physician and the general oversight of the Radiation Safety Officer. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with ECMCC Imaging Department policies. Supervision is exercised over radiologic students, students with affiliation agreements and volunteers. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
* Schedules radiographic examinations;
* Ensures proper identification of patients using two (2) patient identifications;
* Prepares and cleans the exam area before and after each patient;
* Transfers patients to and from tables using assistive devices (Hoyer, Sit to stand, hover mat and slide boards);
* Prepares and positions patients for radiography;
* Selects and sets up exposure factors of imaging equipment;
* Administers ionizing radiation to obtain quality imaging for diagnostic purposes;

* Obtains accurate and quality clinical information to ensure proper billing of procedure;

Pre-screen patients to include taking patient history and vitals.
