    The Coherent and Ultrafast X-ray Science Group in the Materials Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral appointee to lead research in ultrafast time-resolved hard X-ray diffraction microscopy and spectroscopy on single-crystalline bulk and thin film quantum materials (e.g. ferroelectrics, multiferroics, strongly correlated electron systems). This position will focus on ultrafast dynamics in femto- to nanosecond time-domains in quantum materials including nonequilibrium phase transitions and collective excitations in quantum materials, including phonons, magnons, and other emergent quasiparticles. The successful candidate will lead time-resolved X-ray diffraction experiments to reveal structural and electronic dynamics in condensed matter systems. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with scientists at the Materials Science Division and the Advanced Photon Source (APS) as well as collaborate with external partners to exploit state-of-the-art synchrotron and X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) facilities for exploring transient states with high temporal and spatial resolution.     Part-time Description Expected to work 1-3 days per week, on average, subject to change based on business need. The X-Ray Technologist performs radiographic procedures including operation of the lithotripter and C-Arm and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Performs diagnostic radiology procedures. Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS Must have and maintain current license and certification as an X-Ray Technologist within the required state regulations through Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). CPR certification required. KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES Knowledge of routine to complex Radiologic procedures and protocols. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and multitask. Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely. Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Ability to assist patients for transfer from stretcher, wheelchair or in an emergency situation. The X-Ray Technician is a trained medical professional performing radiological duties in compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements. The duties of the X-ray Technician vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. The X-ray Technician will perform radiographic exams, ordered by the physician, that are technically satisfactory, properly positioned and processed adequately. All exams must be performed using the ALARA principle to minimize radiation dose to the patient. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Positions patient under X-ray machine, adjusts immobilization devices, and provides appropriate radiation protection; adjusts switches regulating length and intensity of exposure Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians including procedures, EKG's, phlebotomy and injections. Prepares reports and maintains records of services rendered; maintains radiological film files and storage, pulls X-rays as required for referrals and/or copying; keeps logs for x-rays sent out for referrals. Keeps an updated log that consolidates X-rays performed against reports received. Maintains supplies, equipment, practices OSHA safety standards, performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times. Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must have excellent oral written and communication skills and empathy towards our patients at all times. Ability to effectively collaborate with team members, including doctors, nurses, front desk staff, center managers and market leaders. Mindset focused on solving problems for patients and achieving team goals. Knowledge of medical products, services, standards, policies and procedures. Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems. Must be detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data. This position may require some local travel as it may be assigned to cover multiple centers.
