MedStar Health is looking for a part-time CT (Computed Tomography) Technologist to join our team at Medstar Washington Hospital Center!
Schedule: Every Saturday and Sunday 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
As a CT Technologist, you will operate diagnostic equipment to produce computerized axial tomographic scan (CT) images of internal organs for use by professional personnel. Explains process to patients and interviews for medical history. Instructs and assists patients in assuming positions for proper scan, and administers contrast media (I.V., oral, rectal and P.O.) according to protocols.

Primary Duties:
Prepares patients for scan. Reviews patient records for orders, exam history, lab work, and allergies, and positions patients on the scan table. Establishes I.V. site for contrast infusion and administers oral, rectal and I.V. contrasts. Consults with Radiologist prior to administering I.V. contrast for bolus I.V. injections. Monitors patients during injection for evidence of contrast reaction.
Enters patient and exam data into x-ray computer system and performs computed scan images. Prepares reports and maintains records of service rendered, using the radiology department computer system to verify billing and quality assurance. Completes incident reports and anesthesia records when necessary. Reports all technical problems to the supervisor or senior technologist.
Assists Radiologist with interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages. Informs Radiologist of scan results when anomalies or abnormalities are visible. Schedules patient exams and revises daily schedules to accommodate emergency exams from MedSTAR, ER, and other units.
Cleans and maintains an aseptic working environment for each patient. Films CT scan images and archive exams onto tape or optical disk. Ensures adequate supplies are available and is responsible for replenishing supply levels.
Assists in the training and orientation of new employees and students. Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, exam, and other necessary functions are correctly entered and maintained.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or one to three years formal training in Radiologic Technology.
Completed competency-based training in CT.
1-2 years job related experience.
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) registration.
Basic Life Support (BLS).

Summary:

Position Summary:
Under general direction, provide patient services in a Level I Trauma Center. Manage, coordinate, organize, and maintain supplies, equipment and technology used in each invasive radiographic area (Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization Lab). Provide clinical radiologic care by using radiographic imaging modalities and procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, disability, impairment and illness. The delivery of quality service and positive interaction with customers is critical to the completion of all tasks. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* PATIENT CARE - Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
* X-RAY - Follow prescribed techniques to administer specific radiation for imaging purposes; adjust equipment; calculate exposure factors; position and immobilizes patients, as necessary; use appropriate lead shielding
* EQUIPMENT - Operate imaging equipment, computer and other assistive devices according to department standards
* PATIENT CARE - Provide patients education and consultation on disease management

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. JOB SUMMARY
The Radiology Tech II, working under the supervision of the Radiology Director and the Staff Radiologist, performs radiological imaging examinations of patients using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. The Tech II positions patient as needed to obtain optimal images and prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Develops exposed X-ray film, ensures proper film identification on all images, and creates x-ray CD copies. Files films, maintains medical records, and performs other related administrative duties. • Login for self-dispatching or call into the dispatch department to obtain information regarding beginning case load.

• Carry the company-provided phone on his/her person.
• Respond to all urgent communication within fifteen (15) minutes.
• Check voicemail/text messages from each client's facility upon completion of their assigned case(s); or minimally every thirty (30) minutes or as necessary.
• Check for available cases via self-dispatching system and/or check in with the dispatcher on duty every thirty (30) minutes.
• Upon arriving at facility, ALL ORDERS MUST BE CHECKED FOR ACCURACY AGAINST THE EXAMS(S) LISTED IN THE PATIENT'S CHART AS ORDERED BY THE PHYSICIAN. If the orders in the chart are different or if there are no orders in the chart, the exam cannot be completed until the appropriate order is documented in the chart to match the exam listed on the requisition.
• The technologist is responsible to ensure they have the correct patient by asking for two patient identifiers, such as their name and date of birth. (DO NOT ASK YES/NO QUESTIONS). If the patient is unable to identify themselves, the NURSE IN CHARGE of the patient must identify. The nurse's name should be documented on the requisition, as well as, in the tech's comments in the verification screen.
• Before the patient images are sent to telerad for a reading, the technologist must ensure they have the correct patient images marked with the correct patient information.
• Practice the proper radiation protection at all times. Each technologist is issued the appropriate equipment to ensure that the proper radiation protection standards are being met.
• The consumption of alcoholic beverages, illegal substances or possession of weapons is prohibited as cited in the Associate Handbook.
• Communicate any changes to criminal background and adhere to our drug-free workplace policy as cited in the Associate Handbook
• Behave and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner according to Our Code of Conduct.

• Technologists must maintain a valid driver's license at all times and be able to produce the license on demand. It is the responsibility of the technologists to provide a copy of such licenses(s) and/or certificate(s) to the appropriate TridentCare personnel. All associates are subject to periodic driver's license checks.
• Technologist must have medical physical examinations and TB screening at time of hire and annually, along with annual infection control in-service. Qualifications

Provides radiation protection to patient, staff, and self according to prescribed radiation safety standards. Radiation protection provided: lead aprons (9.25 lbs), lead gloves (2 lbs), and lead glasses (2.5 oz.). Handles radiation monitoring film badge according to established protocols.
Prepare patients for procedures according to established Imaging Services Department protocols. Explains procedure to be performed to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety.
Verifies accuracy of radiology order, prior to exam, by checking physicians order in patients chart or prescription. Verbal verification from physicians may be necessary if orders are not clear.
Scans paper documents per departmental protocol.
Visually reviews image data in the PACS for proper positioning, technique, identification, and correct placement of right (R) and left (L) lead markers. Ensures exam completeness and accuracy of data before sending images to the PACS.
Resolves image exceptions in the PACS system.
Accesses hospital information system, to enter Laboratory orders or retrieve Laboratory results.
Qualifications
Requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiolog ic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program.
ARRT certified with current registration required.
CPR certification preferred
EPIC experience preferred
6 months of Diagnostic radiology experience preferred.

Job Summary:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Mammography Technologist will perform diagnostic scanning procedures to capture consistent and high-quality breast images.
Essential Functions of a Mammography Technolosgist:
Uses specialized equipment to capture breast images and ensures accuracy.
Explains mammogram procedures to patients, addressing their concerns and anxieties.
Positions patients for exams, ensuring comfortable and accurate positioning.
Monitors the condition of patients in the department and assists the radiologist or other physicians in performing needed medical attention.
Review and evaluate the quality of breast images.
Performs clerical work related to the obtaining of previous reports, X-ray films, etc.
Ensures the safety of both patients and staff by adhering to radiation protection measures.
Maintains accuracy of patient records and documentation related to mammogram procedures.
Work as part of a team to assist radiologists, fellow technologists, and office staff as needed
Required Skills/Abilities:
Possesses a skilled level and working knowledge of Mammography scanning technology.
Competency in instructing fellow Mammography Technologists in the art of scanning.
Ability to communicate with radiologists and other healthcare providers about images and patient care.
Demonstrates skill and knowledge to identify abnormalities while performing Mammography scans.
Initiative to obtain additional scans, views, or extremely technical factors to provide maximum information for the radiologist to make an accurate diagnosis.
Maintain sensitivity to physical and psychological needs of patients
Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPPA guidelines.
Education and Experience:
ARRT(M) Certification
CPR/BLS Certification
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Work generally does not involve occupational risk; however, failure to follow established procedures and safety practices could result in minor injury, e.g., minor cuts, needle punctures, bruises from falls on slippery floors, or back injuries sustained while assisting in moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials.
