*Mammography Technologist Opportunity!* *$20,000 sign-on bonus for experienced candidates.* Provides quality care and meets customer expectations by utilizing advanced technical skills in Mammographic imaging. *Responsiblities:* Follow ALARA principles and scans patient with appropriate exposure and minimal repeatability. Always wears radiation badge(s) to track personal exposure. Verifies pregnancy status in appropriate patient population and obtains waiver as needed. Notes all repeat/rejected images in the appropriate manner.
Properly identifies patients by name/DOB as well as introducing himself/herself to the patient by first name. Reviews prescription and protocol for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Advises patient on proper exam preparation including removal of deodorant/lotion, removal of jewelry and appropriate attire. Explains procedure, answers questions/concerns and follows-up with patient when necessary.
Determines technical factors for correct calculated exposure and sets appropriate compression values. Proficient in positioning all routine and technically challenging views to obtain optimal quality. Covers appropriate anatomy and utilizes proper imaging parameters including mole and scar markers. Monitors and communicates with the patient throughout the exam.
Respects scheduled appointment times and communicates delays to reception staff and/or patients directly. Reviews charge entry, edits exam or notifies appropriate administrative staff with necessary changes. Completes charge sheet accurately ensuring the CPT4 code matches the exam performed. Starts and completes examination in ADS workflow, checks-in breast ultrasound and includes complete and accurate notes to the Sonographer.
Evaluates Mammographic images for technical quality, repeats images as necessary and verifies images in PACS. Performs required post processing and/or transfers appropriate images to dedicated workstations. Ensures prior exams and reports are available for comparison. Provides correct forms/documentation and concise relevant history to the Radiologist for interpretation.
Selects correct patient and updates necessary clinical history. Enters pertinent notes relating to present exam and indicates the reason for exam/location of concern. Resolves prior examinations accurately. Indicates when shielding was utilized.
Follows universal precautions including the use of gloves, gowns and masks as appropriate. Cleans and disinfects between each patient and can perform/document high level disinfection appropriately. Consistently indicates in Magview that infection control was completed prior to the start of the exam. Keeps work area, waiting rooms and dressing rooms clean and tidy and stocks work area with laundry and medical supplies on a daily basis.
Maintains Mammography, Stereotactic and/or Bone Density Department quality control standards and updates all necessary logs. Initiates equipment service requests and notifies supervisor as necessary. Actively participates in Time Out procedures required for certain exams. Able to perform quality control tests per ACR requirements and reboot/shutdown systems per manufacturer guidelines.
Able to recognize specific psychological (ie. anxiety) and/or physical needs of patients and determine when further assistance is needed. Promptly responds to situations which require a timely response and documents relevant information on incident forms. Able to locate and use all necessary emergency equipment (code cart, oxygen, blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, etc). Able to initiate emergency response policy.

21. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures by selecting the correct exposure factors utilizing the assessment of patient age, pathology and diagnosis to produce technically accurate digital images to assist the radiologist in diagnosing. Work with students.
22. Accurately inputs procedural information into electronic medical record, RIS and PACS to capture necessary information regarding exams, supply charges, resource allocations, radiation exposure as well as all relevant clinical information.
23. Obtains all relevant patient information, including but not limited to, current lab values, medication usage, ensuring reason for exam is concordant with exam request in order to perform the appropriate exam, on the correct patient, to procure an accurate diagnosis.
24. Explain procedures to patients and addresses their concerns. Utilizes ALARA principals and appropriate infection control techniques to ensure a safe work environment.
25. Appropriately maintains exam rooms, supplies and equipment according to performance standards. Maintains area supplies and reports equipment malfunctions. Performs and documents quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system. Transports patients as necessary.

Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate AMA approved radiology program.
Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
CT state license.
CPR certification may be required.
Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.
