JOB SUMMARY The CT/XR Registered Technologist is a full-time Technologist and will be responsible for obtaining high quality radiographic images. This role requires competent operation of radiation producing equipment such as portable rad units, XR, to create diagnostic images. You will need a valid Radiologic Technologist license, CT and XR certification to apply for this Radiology Tech position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The technologist must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are relaxed and at ease during the exam and provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to establish inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies. Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports "near misses" and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate. Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed. Performs visual preventative maintenance checks of all assigned equipment at the beginning and end of each shift. Records and reports maintenance requirements to appropriate staff. Helps maintain an effective Performance Improvement, Q/A & Q/C program in compliance with Joint Commission, Texas DSHS, IAC and/or ACR Reviews exposed radiographs ensuring proper positioning, techniques and identification are obtained per protocol. Documents all exams/procedures in logbooks and enters charges in patient's EMR. Able to perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease. Able to provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies and procedures. Able to perform tasks exclusively without need for routine oversight. Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues. REQUIREMENTS Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Radiology Tech in a hospital/OR setting. Current registration with A.R.R.T. is required. The CT/RADIOGRAPHER is responsible for meeting standards of practice, knowledge of all radiology/CT supplies, and radiology/CT equipment in the ER, and promoting collaboration with physicians and personnel of the department ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES STANDARD I: Radiography Process ● Assists with the assessments, prepares patient for procedure, and reviews chart for completeness. ● Ensures proper identification of the patient by checking the identification band and by confirming with patient's verbal self-identification. ● Reviews patients' charts and ensures that the required information has been obtained in order to perform radiography ordered by the physician. ● Performs CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology. ● Operates equipment safely and maintains A.L.A.R.A. standards while performing call types of procedures. Duty and Responsibility Statements • Login for self-dispatching or call into the dispatch department to obtain information regarding beginning case load. • Arrive at their first case or location where they pick up company vehicle at the start of their assigned shift or have left their house thirty (30) minutes prior. • Wear company uniform, company-provided name tag and radiation badge, and follow company dress code. • Carry the company-provided phone on his/her person. • Respond to all urgent communication within fifteen (15) minutes. • Check voicemail/text messages from each client's facility upon completion of their assigned case(s); or minimally every thirty (30) minutes or as necessary. • Check for available cases via self-dispatching system and/or check in with the dispatcher on duty every thirty (30) minutes. • Upon arriving at facility, ALL ORDERS MUST BE CHECKED FOR ACCURACY AGAINST THE EXAMS(S) LISTED IN THE PATIENT'S CHART AS ORDERED BY THE PHYSICIAN. If the orders in the chart are different or if there are no orders in the chart, the exam cannot be completed until the appropriate order is documented in the chart to match the exam listed on the requisition. • The technologist is responsible to ensure they have the correct patient by asking for two patient identifiers, such as their name and date of birth. (DO NOT ASK YES/NO QUESTIONS). If the patient is unable to identify themselves, the NURSE IN CHARGE of the patient must identify. The nurse's name should be documented on the requisition, as well as, in the tech's comments in the verification screen. • Before the patient images are sent to telerad for a reading, the technologist must ensure they have the correct patient images marked with the correct patient information. • Practice the proper radiation protection at all times. Each technologist is issued the appropriate equipment to ensure that the proper radiation protection standards are being met. • The consumption of alcoholic beverages, illegal substances or possession of weapons is prohibited as cited in the Associate Handbook. • Communicate any changes to criminal background and adhere to our drug-free workplace policy as cited in the Associate Handbook • Behave and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner according to Our Code of Conduct. • Not refuse to perform an assigned case regardless of its location. • Not call the referral site for purposes other than providing an ETA. • Record all hours worked into timesheet accurately and timely per protocol. • Technologist with company owned, leased, or rented vehicles must properly care for the vehicles in conjunction with the maintenance manager per company policies and procedures. • Technologists must maintain speed limits and traffic rules in accordance to local and state laws when operating a company owned, leased, or rented vehicle - refer to Company Vehicle and Driving Policy. • Technologists with company owned, leased, or rented vehicles are responsible for paying all motor vehicle tickets, including parking and speeding tickets. • Technologists must maintain a valid driver's license at all times and be able to produce the license on demand. It is the responsibility of the technologists to provide a copy of such licenses(s) and/or certificate(s) to the appropriate TridentCare personnel. All associates are subject to periodic driver's license checks. • Technologist must have medical physical examinations and TB screening at time of hire and annually, along with annual infection control in-service. Documentation and/or results of said examinations/tests must be provided to TridentCare Human Resources Department within two (2) weeks of the associate's date of last annual exam. • Facility staff are to conduct any required patient transfers, support, positioning and/or assistance.
