Job Summary:The Radiology Technician will perform multiple procedures under the direction of specialized physicians, including operation of special imaging and radiology equipment. Skilled at sterile field assistance during operating room and pain management procedures. Perform the described duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in the following: Outpatient diagnostic Radiology, Fluoroscopy Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by physician; adjust equipment for proper exposure, voltage and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment; explain x ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient condition to attending medical staff. Monitor accessory equipment and assist attending physician with fluoroscopic examinations and special radiographic studies. Record amount and type of film exposed; label film with identifying information; sort as required. Consult with lead x-ray tech and radiologist to ensure compliance with established standards of quality. Process film in accordance with standardized procedures and maintain assigned work area in clean and orderly condition. Strong teamwork skills, utilizing "down time" to perform other assigned tasks, including room turnovers, restocking warmer, specialty carts, etc. Education, Training and Experience: Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Technology. 1-2 years of experience in C-Arm and Portable x-rays in operating room setting. ARRT Registered, State MRT and CPR Current. Knowledgeable of local, state, federal and Joint Commission Regulations. Must possess independent decision making skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects. Excellent communication skills with the staff, physicians, patients and families. Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. Ability to assess and interact effectively with all age groups from the Neonate to the geriatric patient. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Completes all necessary PACS functions to assure timely presentation of images to radiologists. Assists in maintaining basic records, reports, and files. Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel. Takes standby call at least once a week on a rotational basis scheduled by department needs. Interacts professionally with patient/family. Completes all tasks in a timely fashion. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including newborn, pediatric, geriatric and general population.
