Responsibilities Radiologic Technicians (Rad Tech) select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis and adjust the radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed specifications for proper timing of exposure. The Rad Tech reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, videotapes, or computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Performs complex activities of a higher-technical level in the delivery of radiographic services. May be responsible for the supervision of assigned radiographic and ancillary personnel. Examples of Typical Tasks: At a higher level, performs the duties of Assignment Level I: 1. Prepares radiological area, equipment, contrast materials and supplies, as needed for patients. 2. Effectively uses electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters and access pertinent patient data and imaging results. Assists Radiologists, other physicians and allied health care professionals in performing diagnostic or treatment procedures. 3. Performs diagnostic testing on equipment and general maintenance. 4. Monitors patient and equipment condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professional. 5. Assists and guides radiographers in the performance of a wide variety of x-ray procedures. 6. Trains and assists radiographers in a wide variety of x-ray procedures. 7. Plans, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure continuous flow of work. 8. Supervises radiographers and ancillary personnel assigned to the area. 9. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure operational viability of the area. Assignment Level II 1. Valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH. All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.

Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings. 7. Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment. 8. Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs. 9.
