Performs responsible supervisory, administrative and clinical activities involving day-to-day supervision of an operating segment of the Radiology department in the delivery of radiological services or performs specialized imaging procedures with diagnostic and interventional radiography. There are two (2) types of assignments in this Level of positions.
For Specialized Imaging Assignments, performs typical tasks of Assignment Levels I and II, as listed below, for special procedures with diagnostic and interventional radiography in Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Mammography; and performs additional related Assignment Level III tasks described below, as applicable to this type of assignment.
For Supervisory Assignments, in addition to performing duties of lower Assignment Levels at a more difficult and responsible level, performs the duties described below for Assignment Level III.
Examples of Typical Tasks:
Assignment Level I:
1. Prepares radiological area, equipment, contrast materials and supplies, as needed for patients.
2. Prepares patient for x-ray, explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patient and assists patient at end of procedures.
3. Follows prescribed techniques to administer general and specific x-rays. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time, arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient, adjusts lead shield, and selects proper imaging techniques.
4. Develops images in accordance with photographic techniques.
5. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition.
6. Maintains supplies, equipment and required records.
7. Transports and uses mobile x-ray equipment in patient care area as required.
8. Follows all proper radiation, patient, and employee safety protocols; adheres to all appropriate radiation prevention, containment, and control measures.
9. Effectively uses electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters and access pertinent patient data and imaging results.
Assignment Level II:
1. Performs procedures on patients whose conditions require specialized expertise.
2. Assists Radiologists, other physicians and allied health care professionals in performing diagnostic or treatment procedures.
3. Performs diagnostic testing on equipment and general maintenance.
4. Monitors patient and equipment condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professional.
5. Assists and guides radiographers in the performance of a wide variety of x-ray procedures.
6. Trains and assists radiographers in a wide variety of x-ray procedures.
7. Plans, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure continuous flow of work.
8. Supervises radiographers and ancillary personnel assigned to the area.
9. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure operational viability of the area.
Assignment Level III:
1. Supervises the delivery of radiological services, in accordance with established standards and procedures, for the service area or unit.
2. Recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of radiological services.
3. Participates in the development of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary personnel and allied health care professionals. Demonstrates new or revised techniques, procedures and equipment.
4. May perform radiologic procedures, as required.
5. Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography).
6. Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings.
7. Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment.
8. Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs.
9. Performs research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of service.
10. May be assigned duties and responsibilities of immediate Supervisor in their absence on a temporary basis.
Assignment Level III
1. For Supervisory Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced- level certification for the performance of these procedures.
All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.

Overview
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs diagnostic radiological procedures.
Responsibilities
* Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patients (i.e. In-Patients, Emergency Room Patients or Private Out Patients); recognizes the need for and utilizes lead sheeting where appropriate in accordance with departmental policies.

We are an integrated health care delivery system, which includes Primary Care and medical specialties, onsite pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, dental, physical therapy, eye care, and mental health services. seeking an X-Ray Technician to join our team based out in our New York Health Center. They would be responsible for the daily operations of the radiology area, including ordering of supplies and films; maintaining equipment logs, records, and files; complying with quality assurance/risk management programs; and performing radiographs according to the protocols selected by the radiologist.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists radiologist/performs (as applicable) all diagnostic radiologic procedures, including processing of films.
Takes and processes all requests for tests on a timely basis. Ensures all request forms have proper physician signature, patient history, diagnosis, type of test requested and special instructions.
Assists receptionist with scheduling of radiologic tests, as needed.
Assists patients to and from waiting area, reviews the patient's history and prepares all paperwork according to the center's policies and procedures.
Prepares the patient for the radiologic test, including an explanation of what to expect, what is expected of them and the procedure.
Adheres to all safety standards regarding equipment and center policies and procedures.
Reviews films with the radiologist, including previous studies, if necessary.
Coordinates inter-office transport of films, to ensure availability of films for interpretation by radiologist, as scheduled.
Maintains current and accurate daily and monthly logs; records and files for easy access by applicable staff.
Performs light maintenance tasks on processor and other equipment. Performs daily cleaning and monitoring (maintenance records, test frequencies) to ensure all equipment is in good working order. Arranges for repairs, as necessary, with clearance from administrator/designee.
Communicates with the appropriate preventative maintenance company, as necessary for equipment/software problems.
Orders and maintains required inventory of films and other radiologic supplies.
Participates in in-service education programs, as requested.
Performs, according to schedule, mandated quality assurance activities, including:
Maintaining compliance with department of health safety standards (radiation regulations) and reporting requirements
Performs quality control tests of equipment
Meeting all personnel monitoring requirements (film badges); and maintains current knowledge of equipment use and safety.

Job Responsibilities:
Takes initiative and is proactive in resolving issues that are encountered in the Department. Has good knowledge of PACS, CR Readers and their operation.
Takes quality x-ray images of specified body areas/parts as ordered by the physician, following established procedures and guidelines.
Identifies his/her role to the patient. Explains procedure to the patient and answers questions relating to the procedure.
Demonstrates the proper use of lead shields to protect gonads and unaffected parts of the body from exposure to radiation.
Performs examinations in an organized manner and logical sequence. Uses correct side markers and places initials on film.
Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
Accepts direction from supervisor willingly
Maintains a clean and safe environment for the patient by setting up the exam room properly for the procedure
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Performs x-ray exams in other areas of the hospital with portable equipment using proper positioning and technical factors to produce a diagnostic radiograph.
Ensures the patient's comfort and dignity during the procedure e.g. use of pillows, table pad, sheets, blankets etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Willingness to devote the time required completing assigned tasks on schedule.

Job SummaryThe Multi-Modality Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures in both Computed Tomography (CT) and general radiography (X-ray) to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions. Key Responsibilities & Duties
* Perform high-quality CT and X-ray examinations in accordance with established clinical protocols and physician orders.
* Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, obtaining relevant clinical history, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the examination.
* Position patients and select appropriate imaging sequences and technical parameters to ensure optimal image quality and minimal radiation exposure (ALARA principles).
* Prepare and safely administer contrast media when required, which includes performing venipuncture and monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
* Evaluate images for technical quality and accuracy, documenting all required patient information and image annotations in the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
