Essential Responsibilities:
Perform quality general radiographic and specialty images through the use of clinical protocols. Position patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patients comfort and ability. Demonstrate the knowledge to perform general radiographic and specialty procedures through the use of radiological equipment. Obtain images in accordance with proper radiographic techniques. Evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide Radiology services including patient education to all age groups served, to include: geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. Contact physician if there are any discrepancies, and follows the radiology policy and procedure for changing orders from referring providers. Adhere to Cooperative-wide Personal Protection Equipment, Universal Precautions, related Medical Waste (RMW), Infection Control, Safety, and other OSHA Policies and Procedures.
Ensure patient information is accurately input into electronic medical record, including Radiology Information System (RIS). Arrive, select current account and complete patient for the appropriate procedure, as directed in the RIS. Establish patients identification by following organizational identification policy. Observe patient during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences or changes in patients condition to appropriate personnel. Ascertain allergy status on patients. Respond appropriately to contrast reactions as outlined in Policy and Procedure Manual.
Provide timely, responsive, expert services to customers in a positive friendly manner, to include patient, physicians, and other employees. Inform patients and those accompanying them when delays exist and how they are being addressed. Promote patient focused care throughout daily activities. Provide quality patient care to include preparation, scheduling, description of exam, communication of pain expectation, and teaching all types of patient procedures as needed. Maintain strict patient and employee confidentiality, as appropriate. Communicate to the patient when they will be receiving their results.
Maintain safe radiation levels at all times to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Follow written Policy and Procedure Manual on radiation safety rules. Perform all necessary equipment checks prior to use, thereby protecting patient and staff safety. Ensure patient and regulatory standards are adhered to and suggests ways to improve patient outcomes when indicated. Completes quality assurance, quality control and radiation safety activities as appropriate.
Arrive at the start of the assigned shift ready to begin work; take lunch and break at appropriate times, and leave work at the end of the assigned shift. Maintain neat, clean and stocked Radiology room. Able to assist lead technologist or radiology leadership by coordinating new employee training and orientation, and identifying staff training issues, able to assist lead technologist in monitoring work flow and assigning tasks to other staff to address issues and participating in operational policy and procedures development as appropriate. Communicate concerns as appropriate to lead technologists and management. Work as an effective team member with other colleagues, both on and off-site to efficiently perform radiological procedures. Rotate shifts and assignments as required. Rotation may include surgery and portables for Specialty and Hospital staff.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Performs diagnostic radiographic exams as assigned by Lead or Supervisor. Transferring and positioning patients as well as providing immobilization. Provide devices as required and select proper technical factors and operate radiographic equipment.
* Under general supervision performs complex radiographic procedures such as, but not limited to the following: myelograms, discograms, complex orthopedic procedures in the OR, extensive radiography, and complex polytraumatized patients from the ED and ICU.
* Is able to operate the following equipment/systems: Computed and Digital Radiography equipment, PACS, the Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System. Able to print and retrieve images. Can implement downtime procedures as needed.
* Assists in the orientation of new staff, technologists, researchers, and students to the Radiology department.
* Help maintain a clean and well-stocked working environment.
* May be assigned Lead responsibilities in their absence or when requested.
* Maintains adequate computer and/or written records using the Radiology Information System.
* May be required to work on-call.
* Assures appropriate utilization of Radiation Protection prescribed by safety standards is utilized.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
* Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school and eligible for registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Registry completed before completion of probationary period

The X-ray Technologist complies with company policies and procedures to include regulatory changes and prescribed safety standards with the needs of the patient and physician in mind. X-ray Technologist performs duties under the general supervision of Site Manager and Radiologist.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides patient care in accordance with company mission, vision and values.
Prepares the patient for a radiologic exam with clear instructions and a thorough explanation of the procedure.
Obtains a thorough patient history as it relates to the exam to be completed.
Able to assist the Radiologist during Fluoroscopic procedures when applicable.
The X-ray Technologist must be able to closely follow provider instructions, prepare radiographic/fluoroscopy equipment, position patients correctly and accurately capture the diagnostic image.
Able to complete examinations in a timely manner while demonstrating a high degree of positioning accuracy in routine imaging procedures.
Adheres to the exam protocols as established by the department
Utilize proper radiation safety devices such as lead aprons and thyroid collars to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
Shields patient from unnecessary radiation exposure. ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achieved) Radiation Safety principle.
Able to assist and radiograph wheelchair patients as well as infants in positioning devices such as a Piggostat.
Completes Modality Worksheet with accurate information for the Radiologist
Maintains high standards regarding the accurate recording of patient information
Utilizes accurate written and oral communications with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
Performs necessary computer functions associated with patient exam.
Keeps work area and patient exam areas neat and stocked with appropriate supplies.
Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel
Maintains a professional demeanor with confidentiality
Is prompt and efficient with minimal absence.
Able to apply IV principles under the scope of practice for Radiologic Technologists.
Cooperates and maintains good rapport with co-workers to ensure proper patient care and efficient workflow.
Able to use good body mechanics to avoid injury to oneself and the patient
Able to travel to other TRA offices. (Tacoma, Puyallup, Lakewood & Olympia) as needed.
Acts as liaison between patients, radiologists and other members of support team.
Provide assistance in the performance of special diagnostic procedures.
Document patient care/history in department records.
Assist in department to provide smooth and speedy patient flow procedures.
Responsible for maintaining all phases of Quality Control, and notifying manager of equipment or conditions not meeting standards.
Proactive approach to restocking, anticipating upcoming exams and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Attend and participate in monthly technical staff meetings.
Comply with radiation safety program standards and radiation badge monitoring program.
Check work e-mail daily.
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience
ARRT (R) registered or Registry eligible.
Must have valid Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification.
Current BLS certification required.

Physical Requirements
Work is classified as moderate in physical requirements. Must be able to assist in supporting patients of varying weight. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment as necessary.
Mental Requirements
Work requires high attention to detail and the ability to handle mentally stressful situations. The ability to maintain high level of sensitivity towards confidential information is also required.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Work environment consists of normal office or administrative working conditions. There may be exposure to communicable diseases. There will be limited exposure to ionizing radiation.
