Under general supervision, operates dedicated and specialized mammography radiographic equipment, formulates/calculates techniques and positions patients to produce diagnostic images of normal and abnormal human breast and associated tissue and related unusual changes for the use by physicians in making medical diagnoses. Within established/recognized scope of practice, uses independent judgment in critiquing radiographs and images, recognizing normal from abnormal tissue and taking additional required views such as magnification.

Demonstrates competence in the positioning of patients for mammography imaging.
Routinely positions patients accurately relative to the requirements of the study including those with implants, taking into consideration body habitus and location of lesion as stated in the department protocols.
Utilizes and selects precise positioning techniques involved with additional/special views such as magnification, compression relative to the patients condition or findings seen on images.
Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to perform, required mammography Q.C. for mammography according to the requirements of the State of California and MQSA. Performs accurate calibration of mammographic equipment.
Age Specific Criteria: Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients of the age group served. Able to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed in accordance with department policy. Neonatal Pediatric Adolescent Adult Geriatric Adjusts technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the physical maturation of the patient. Modifies patient positioning techniques relative to the patients physical and cognitive abilities. Always takes special care in handling, positioning and/or restraining infants and geriatric patients to avoid injury or excessive radiation exposure.Never leaves infant, pediatric or disoriented geriatric patient unattended.
Exercises Good Clinical Judgment Consults with the radiologist or other clinician for purposes of clarifying orders. Selects alternate or additional view appropriately relative to the patients condition. Produces high quality diagnostic images that (1) are free from artifacts or blurred images caused by motion; (2) demonstrate the area(s) of interest (3) exhibit the optimum contrast/exposure needed to differentiate various types of normal and abnormal tissue (e.g., mammary, muscle, fat, lymph). Does not attempt to perform an exam in any case in which it cannot be performed safely and/or properly.
Documents clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner and maintains documentation as required by ACR, MQSA, HCFA, State of California.
Completes and initials the standard consultation form and the Radiology Processing Record accurately and immediately following each procedure. Accurately documents all pertinent information regarding mammography and clinical breast examinations.
ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS FOR SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST Provides functional direction to assigned staff. Consistently assigns work to staff appropriately so that exams are performed in a timely manner. Routinely provides timely feedback to management regarding operational problems and personnel issues. Responsibilities
Radiologic Technologist Duties
Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed. Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during the x-ray exam.
Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members
Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to Center Operations Director
Ensure all Radiology workflows are followed and all Radiology reports cross correctly to EMR
Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient x-ray visit.
Maintain all x-ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures, and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Medical Assistant Duties
Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing (in accordance with state regulations)
Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
Assist providers during examination and treatment
Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed
Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care
Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations
Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center
Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected
In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume
Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit
Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping
Ensure accuracy in documentation
Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed
Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required
Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility
Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly.

Education Level: High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology and applicable certification by the state in which employed.
Registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and has active and valid certification.

Key Responsibilities
Work in a sterile work environment, set up sterile equipment and trays, scrub back table, assist physicians with a variety of sterile procedures.
Independently operate radiographic equipment to perform a variety of complex diagnostic radiographic exams, as well as on-call for all modalities with a 30- minute report time from the time of notification.
Receive patients, explain method of procedure, position patients, select and set technical factors, set up and adjust accessory equipment, and make and develop exposures.
Work equipment and perform duties independently as well as part of a team.
Be subject to the same quality assurance standards in meeting or exceeding current recognized national standards as established by The Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO).

Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR) - VA San Diego Healthcare System
???? Type: Full-Time | 1-Year Contract
The VA San Diego Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR) to join our Radiology Department. The ideal candidate will operate complex imaging equipment, assist physicians during sterile interventional procedures, and ensure safe, efficient patient care for our nation's Veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and maintain a sterile work environment and assist with a variety of interventional procedures.
Operate and troubleshoot single and bi-plane interventional imaging equipment and contrast injectors.
Perform diagnostic and fluoroscopic imaging safely and efficiently.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to support quality patient outcomes.
Requirements:
Current and valid Advanced ARRT certification in Interventional Radiology.
California State License in Radiography and Fluoroscopy.
BLS certification (American Heart Association).
Minimum 2 years of recent full-time IR experience (within the past 3 years).
Familiarity with PACS systems and sterile procedures.
U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
COMPENSATION: $40.00 per hour
