The compensation range for this position is between $31.00 and $54.00 per hour. Key Accountabilities: 1. Maintain competence in all procedure and equipment set-ups 2. Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge and behaviors to meet age specific patient needs (e.g. Pediatric, Adolescents, and Geriatrics) and cultural diversity. Works effectively as team member within the department and other units to provide quality service through pertinent knowledge, communication, cooperation and collaboration. Work to supervise Radiology students and new hires as needed. 20. Operates IR equipment to produce accurate images while maintaining sterile technique. Assembles sterile trays and assumes scrub duties as necessary. Accurately documents procedure performed. Verify correct orders and relevant history in the patients chart. 21. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures by selecting the correct exposure factors utilizing the assessment of patient age, pathology and diagnosis to produce technically accurate digital images to assist the radiologist in diagnosing. Work with students. 22. Accurately inputs procedural information into electronic medical record, RIS and PACS to capture necessary information regarding exams, supply charges, resource allocations, radiation exposure as well as all relevant clinical information. 23. Obtains all relevant patient information, including but not limited to, current lab values, medication usage, ensuring reason for exam is concordant with exam request in order to perform the appropriate exam, on the correct patient, to procure an accurate diagnosis. 24. Explain procedures to patients and addresses their concerns. Utilizes ALARA principals and appropriate infection control techniques to ensure a safe work environment. 25. Appropriately maintains exam rooms, supplies and equipment according to performance standards. Maintains area supplies and reports equipment malfunctions. Performs and documents quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system. Transports patients as necessary. Qualifications Guidelines: Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate AMA approved radiology program. Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) CT state license. CPR certification may be required. Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure. Individual exceptions may apply only under the discretion of the Medical and Administrative Director Desirable: At least one years experience as an Interventional Radiology technologist Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field. Knowledge: Working knowledge applicable to radiological technology with specific references to anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to radiological technology. Patients care standards and requirements. Quality assurance principles and practices. Customer service principles and practices. OSHA principles and practices. TJC standards of practice. Skills/Abilities: Operate and adjust radiological equipment. Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers. Venipunctures certificate (where applicable). Maintain the confidentiality of patient records. Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads. Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations. Document all patient related information in radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow. Maintain all aspects of the radiographic and mammographic area including technical and clerical components to ensure proper quality assurance results, maintenance of required documentation and keep the area in a state of inspection readiness and compliance. If mammography certified: Actively participate and maintain detailed follow up of BIRADS category 0 mammographic records to ensure compliance with MQSA/ACR requirements. If MRI certified: Screen patients, employees, and visitors to maintain a magnetically safe environment according to the American College of Radiology standards. Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety. Provide coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call off or extended patient schedules). Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires. Continuously strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs.
