Basic Qualifications: Education: Currently enrolled in an Associate's degree in Radiology or Radiologic Sciences program or a technical or vocational radiology sciences program approved by the JRCT. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contract media, administering first aide, and using the emergency supplies. Practices aseptic technique as needed. Administers contrast media, utilizing policies and procedures as set for by department director. Assists physician with imaging procedures. Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures. Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. Maintains patient film and records as required by policies and procedures. Maintains competency in radiologic technology. Maintains professional relationships with members of medical staff, hospital staff, and patients. Work Environment: This job operates in a healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the hospital. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles and some mechanical equipment.
