Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist performs advanced imaging procedures using radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images that aid physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. They ensure patient safety, maintain equipment functionality, and collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver accurate and effective diagnostic results.
Essential Work Functions:
Educate patients about imaging procedures and answer questions if they arise
Prepare and operate advanced radiologic equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images according to physician orders
Maintain equipment and sterilize the room in which procedure takes place
Evaluate images for quality, present images and preliminary findings to physicians and health care team
Maintain and inspect imaging equipment for proper functionality, troubleshooting issues and reporting malfunctions as needed
Document all imaging procedures and technical details accurately in patient records
Follow hospital safety rules and procedures including infection control and radiation safety protocols
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of Radiologic Technologist practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT Scan Technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. This role is critical in the overall treatment of our patients, making you an invaluable asset to the Cleveland Clinic system.
A caregiver in this position works weekend nights from 6:30PM - 7:00AM, including 2 holidays per year.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Perform computerized tomography procedures to aid in diagnosing disease or injury.
* Prepare and educate patients for CT exams.
* Assess patient's clinical history.
* Adjust techniques and protocols on equipment to correspond to patient habitus and pathology.
* Research lab values for patient and inject contrast under the direction of Radiologist as required (bolus or power injectors).
* Perform exams and transfer results from the CT console to Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS).
* Observe patients constantly and respond to any adverse reactions to ensure safety.
* Work with referring physicians to ensure the correct exam is ordered and performed for the patient.
* Oversee maintenance of equipment to ensure full calibration and complete functioning.
* Keep abreast of new developments in field by attending appropriate meetings/seminars and reviewing current literature to maintain required state of Ohio and AART continuing education credits.
* Proficiently transfer to other modalities as qualified and/or needed, utilizing proper exam protocols and injection procedures.
* Comply with Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements for accurate patient, film, and supply tracking monitors.
* Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.
* Maintain applicable certification, licensure and registration.
* Assist and support the Radiologic student program by providing supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures, reviewing images with students and providing quarterly evaluations.
