Position Summary Under the clinical direction of a radiologist and general supervision of the senior manager performs a variety of MR scanning and imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. The MR Development Specialist consistently performs work requiring advanced knowledge, defined as work which is predominantly intellectual in character. Requires the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment, have an advanced knowledge in MR imaging to include anatomy and physiology, MR physics, safety, billing and compliance, and practice within the security requirements of the company. Continued MR advanced knowledge must be acquired through an ongoing course of specialized intellectual instruction. Performs other related duties within the job classification or organization as necessary or as assigned by the technical director or management. Essential Job Responsibilities * Assess the MR department for corrective action, protocol development, and staff development needs. * Devise and communicate an implementation plan to address corrective action and development needs in collaboration with the physician staff, MR supervisor, senior manager, and technical director. * Evaluate new and existing protocols for efficiency and safety. * Publish protocols on the intranet and maintain the documents with appropriate review and revisions. * Travel to sites to implement protocol changes. * Facilitate technologist initial MR training and advanced protocol training. * Devise and revise MR training program as needed to ensure a solid foundation for MR program development. * Collaborate with equipment vendors to evaluate new products and maximize existing equipment resources. * Evaluate and facilitate optimal workflow management in conjunction with staff technologists, paramedics/assistants, and MR Supervisor. * Represent the organization to the community in a positive manner. * Encourage and support employees to promote high level of morale and productivity. * Receive and follow directives and instructions from radiologists, referring physicians, diagnostic imaging center managers, senior managers, and technical director to properly perform the position function. * Operate MR imaging equipment and assist physicians/radiologists as appropriate to comply with regulatory agencies and established policies and protocol. * Explain proper prep and scanning procedures to patient prior to procedures and verify the patient history pertinent to the exam ordered. * Prepare and position the patient for MR scanning and ensure patient modesty, confidentiality, and privacy. * Prepare IV solution sets and contrast agents for administration. * Prepare images for radiologist/physician interpretation. Review processed images to ensure quality and completeness for diagnostic purposes. * Report all unsafe and hazardous conditions, defective equipment, or any other potential hazard to a supervisor immediately. * Participate and assist with quality improvement programs. * Participate and assist with accreditation. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed radio frequency pulsed sequences of MRI diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. The services should be provided with attention to detail and friendly guest services. Operate MRI imaging equipment and assist physicians and radiologists as appropriate to comply with regulatory agencies and established policy, procedure, and protocol. Calculate and select proper pulse sequence factors such as TR, TE, FOV, flip angles, matrix, slice direction, slice position, slice thickness, gap, and other technical factors based on patient age, physical condition, patient ability to hold still, suspected pathology, etc. to apply to imaging sequence and procedure. Taking a patient centered approach, you will provide PET/CT services within professional standards and with excellent customer service. Each patient comes to our centers looking for answers. You will guide patients through this sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process. This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, working Midday Evenings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (90%) Patient PET/CT Imaging * Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure * Explains and prepares patients for PET/CT imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately * Performs routine and advanced PET/CT imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats scanned, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure * Adjusts PET/CT scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate * Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers * Follows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkers * Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS) * Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers * Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements * Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use * Ensures compliance with all HIPAA guidelines * Assesses, prepares, records and administers radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State regulations and departmental policies * Administers fluorodioxyglucose (FDG) via intravenous methods to patients * Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care services * Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer (5%) PET/CT Department Support * Assists with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades * Monitors medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary * Assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise, as applicable * Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on PET/CT equipment to ensure compliance with ACR and AOA guidelines * Performs daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State Regulations (5%) Completes other tasks as assigned Required: * NMTCB or ARRT registered technologist in Nuclear Medicine, current and in good standing * Graduate of the American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography * Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable * Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification * Must have training and experience sufficient to competently perform PET/CT procedures independently * Certification in imaging specialty Preferred: * Bilingual * ARRT certification in CT * NMTCB PET Specialty certification RAYUS is committed to delivering clinical excellence in communities across the U.S., driven by our passion for and superior service to referring providers and patients.
