A construction management and general contractor is seeking a Carpenter Foreman for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity in the Columbus area. The ideal candidate will bring with them the safety requirements associated with commercial construction along with a comprehensive understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, materials, specifications, quality, and cost control measures. In addition, this Foreman will need to have experience effectively leading teams as they will be managing carpenters, labors, and equipment operators for small to large budget commercial construction projects. Types of project work could include formwork, ceiling installation, interior fit-out, installation of doors and hardware, wall protection, bump rails, roof blocking, etc. They are seeking someone long term so reliability, attendance, and willingness to drive to sites within a 45-mile radius of Columbus is a top priority. Role and Responsibilities Lay and install bricks, blocks, stone, and other masonry materials according to blueprints, drawings, and project specifications. Prepare and clean surfaces, ensuring proper bonding materials and techniques are used for all installations. Measure and cut materials to fit project requirements, ensuring precision and accuracy in all aspects of the work. Mix and apply mortar, grout, and other bonding agents to secure masonry materials in place. Work with a variety of masonry materials, including brick, stone, concrete blocks, and cultured stone, ensuring correct installation and finishing. Ensure that all work complies with safety codes, building codes, and project specifications. Repair and maintain masonry structures, including patching, re-pointing, and replacing damaged materials. Assist in the installation of decorative masonry elements, such as arches, columns, and veneers. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment. Work alongside other trades and contractors to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects. Maintain and care for tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
