Class A CDL Route Driver Topeka, Kansas Hourly / Full-Time About the Role: The Class A CDL Retail Route Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of goods across designated routes, primarily operating within and around Baton Rouge, LA. This position requires the driver to manage long-haul and local deliveries efficiently while adhering to all federal and state transportation regulations. The driver will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in optimal condition, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Effective communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members is essential to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery challenges. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to customer satisfaction and the overall success of the logistics operation by ensuring reliable and professional transportation services. Minimum Qualifications: Valid Class A CDL (self-certified as Non-Excepted Interstate with issuing state). Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) report. Responsibilities: Load, transport, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes (1525 stops per day). Operate combination vehicles (open-top dump trailers) across a regional footprint. Drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles in compliance with DOT and all applicable laws. Use manual or electric pallet jacks as needed. Clean bins and containers with a pressure washer; ensure all client locations are left clean and debris-free. Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections. Perform minor repairs on company bins and equipment using basic hand tools. Maintain basic truck equipment and ensure vehicle cleanliness. Utilize electronic logging devices (ELD) for DOT compliance and other required reporting. Accurately complete and submit paperwork (e.g., contamination reports, service tickets, truck maintenance logs). Communicate professionally with customers and vendors to support seamless operations. Report any service, equipment, or customer issues to the operations team. Immediately report all accidents and injuries to the Safety Manager. Work flexible hours, up to 60 hours in a 7-day week or 70 hours in 8 days, depending on seasonality. Attend weekly safety calls, trainings, or briefings. Use a computer and cell phone for training, communication, and expense management. Be available for various route assignments, including interstate routes, as needed. Skills: The required skills for this role include proficient vehicle operation, adherence to safety protocols, and effective time management to ensure on-time deliveries. Drivers utilize their knowledge of DOT regulations daily to maintain compliance and avoid violations. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with dispatch and customers, resolving issues, and providing status updates. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with electronic logging devices and GPS systems, enhance route efficiency and record-keeping accuracy. Additionally, customer service and basic maintenance skills contribute to a smoother delivery process and help maintain vehicle reliability. A Correctional Advisor supports all functions within the Adult Residential Center (ARC). The ARC is a minimum security correctional facility serving adult offenders on an open campus. We strive to cultivate an environment of responsibility and accountability through the use of evidence-based behavior change practices. Correctional Advisors are direct care staff who continually interact with clients from various backgrounds with criminal records ranging from misdemeanor to felony convictions. Our population consists of high-risk offenders in need of substance abuse treatment, mental health services, employment/technical skills, education, and basic life skills. Our overriding objective is to establish a stable foundation for re-entry back into the community. The ARC consist of three components to meet the specific needs of the clients: Residential, Work Release and Therapeutic Community. The Residential component serves clients assigned to probation supervision; the Work Release component serves county and state inmates transitioning back into the community from jail or prison; and, the Therapeutic Community provides intensive substance abuse treatment for clients with extreme substance abuse issues. ARC has an open campus environment that is different than traditional correctional facilities because clients work in the community and reside at the ARC until their release. Correctional Advisors do not carry lethal or less-than-lethal weapons and do not physically engage offenders unless it is for the purposes of self-defense or the defense of others. The ARC is a 24-hour operation and shift work and overtime is required. As a CA, you will have the opportunity and responsibility to help shape behaviors and create lasting change in each client you interact with. Working directly with clients is expected in order to: Build healthy relationships, serve as a role-model for appropriate prosocial behavior and attitudes; Teach and model basic expectations and provide frequent positive reinforcement; Seek opportunities to teach new behaviors, coping skills, de-escalation techniques and emotion regulation; and Provide a secure and clean working environment by conducting routine personal and physical plant searches. Under the supervision of the CORE Unit Sergeant, this internship will provide a comprehensive overview of the duties and responsibilities of a municipal police officer. This position will work with both commissioned and non-commissioned personnel in the City's patrol, administration and support services divisions. This Intern position is designed to assist individuals interested in law enforcement as a career further their knowledge and gain exposure to the law enforcement field. First year internships are designed to last five (5) weeks and will include progressive introduction to the various aspects of law enforcement. Second year internships are designed to last approximately nine (9) weeks and will give students the opportunity to dive deeper into the various aspects of law enforcement, gain a better understanding of the day-to-day operations, and perform research and policy review. All internships will have exposure to the areas of Dispatch, Patrol, Investigations, Criminal Interdiction, Canine, and Traffic. Where applicable, the internship will afford students hands-on-experience and training. The hiring range for first year internships begins at $16 per hour for current college students, and $17.50 per hour for graduates of a Bachelor's program. Retention incentive for second year internships is $0.75. Position Responsibilities: Observes and learns about the various divisions within the Police Department including, but not limited to, patrol, property & evidence, dispatch, investigations, traffic, canine, tactical team, community outreach, and more. Assists Police Department staff with day-to-day operations and administrative tasks such as data entry, report filing, and finger printing. Attend briefings, meetings, and training sessions to gain insight into law enforcement procedures. Participates in ride-alongs to gain exposure to police procedures, community interactions, and patrol operations. Participates in training exercises and other hands-on law enforcement activities. Serves as a role player in training exercises when appropriate. Provides general support for public events, safety presentations, and community outreach programs. Assists in compiling reports, statistical summaries, background investigations, record keeping, data entry and filing, and other documentation as requested. May present information to the Police Command Staff on initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.
