The Nurse Aide is responsible for performing basic nursing procedures in assisting in the care of patients. Responsibilities Provides personal care including bath, shampoo, shave, back rub, positions patients, makes beds, prepares patients for meals, feeds patients, and passes ice water. The Director of Respiratory Therapy is accountable for directing and coordinating the overall operation of the Respiratory Therapy Department. Responsibilities Manages the department in an efficient manner by planning, organizing and controlling all activities of the department. Administers and/or supervises all prescribed respiratory therapy treatments. Assures that respiratory treatments are provided in compliance with physician's orders. Assures that patients who are receiving treatments are made as comfortable as possible and kept as calm as possible. Assures that respiratory equipment is maintained in proper working condition. The purpose of Infection Preventionist is to promote patient and staff safety through the identification of sources/risks for infection and developing strategies in the prevention of infections. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for assisting in the development of the Infection Prevention Program Plan and implementation of the Plan at the facility level. The Infection Preventionist implements the Infection Prevention Program Plan by collection, analysis and provision of actionable data regarding healthcare-associated infections to physicians, staff members, department directors/managers and senior management and the Infection Control Committee. The Infection Preventionist uses epidemiologic data to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate infection control practices throughout the hospital and to educate staff members, patients and their families on measures for prevention of infection. The Senior Medical Technologist is responsible for supervision and performance in an area of specialization in the laboratory; i.e., Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Blood Bank. Responsibilities Supervises one or more departments of clinical laboratory. Performs all tests and examinations in that department. Notifies and discusses abnormal results with physicians. Assists in evaluating new procedures. Schedules certain tests which are considered special procedures. Assists in maintaining quality control program. Keeps abreast of new technical and theoretical procedures and coordinates the continuing education of their subordinates. Provides assistance to technologists and technicians when problems arise. Maintains records and procedure files for their department. Participates in overall shift coverage for call-in and weekend duty. The Home Care Store Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the management and supervision of all Homecare Store respiratory related services within their assigned area. May act as store manager in the absence of store manager. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of policy and procedure for all respiratory related services provided by the ARH Homecare Stores. The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing various routine laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease while maintaining all of the Standards of the Laboratory and the Corporation, as well as regulatory agencies. Responsibilities May perform all tasks of Laboratory Technician, producing and interpreting accurate results in an efficient manner.. May participate in laboratory coverage on shift basis -- evening, night, and/or on call shifts. Performs trouble-shooting problems with equipment. Performs record keeping as demanded of the job. Performs examinations, smears, biochemical tests, serological testes and other necessary tests to identify micro-organisms. Receives and plants cultures; performs and reads gram stains as needed. Performs tests for processing blood, determines blood types, cross matches blood and does blood groupings. Performs a complete urinalysis and additional related tests required. Performs EKG's, EEG's and Holter Monitor hook-ups; if applicable. Performs blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests. Performs routine chemical tests on blood specimens and other body fluids. Prepares samples as necessary to be shipped to System and contract reference facilities and local labs. Operates and calibrates various instruments and calculates test results accordingly. Performs daily maintenance as required on all laboratory instrumentation. May assist with post-mortum care, if applicable. Operates computers and printers. Uses and monitors quality control programs within predetermined parameters. Performs venipunctures and other pre-testing patient preparation. Performs other routine tests and prepares necessary reagents in various areas (i.e., Serology, Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, and Urinalysis). May function in one area of laboratory and perform certain specialized tests and/or use special equipment in that area. Maintains work area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Must be knowledgeable in safe disposal of physical and chemical hazards. Performs other related duties as assigned. The House Nurse Coordinator is accountable for the management of nursing services on a given shift under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services in order to provide safe, effective and efficient nursing care. Responsibilities Manage nursing services on the assigned shift in an efficient manner by planning, organizing and controlling all activities of the department(s). Implement, interpret and enforce work standards and procedures on the assigned shift that are in compliance with hospital policies, governmental regulations and various regulatory agency requirements. Serve as a role model for nursing staff by complying with established policies and procedures. Implement total quality management concepts into nursing service operations. Use the concepts of total quality management to evaluate the effectiveness of shift operations, make changes or recommendations for changes as indicated and assure that the appropriate staff and supplies are available to patients when needed. Determine the placement of patients according to nursing care needs and coordinate the transfer of patients or equipment in accordance with hospital policy. The Rotating Pharmacist is responsible for providing quality pharmaceutical care/services to patients and health care professionals at any ARH or affiliated unit as assigned. Responsibilities Supervises and performs the functions involved in the inpatient drug distribution program. Supervises and performs the functions involved in the accurate and efficient dispensing of outpatient prescriptions. Supervises and performs the functions involved in the I.V. Admixture Program to include the accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of total parenteral nutrition solutions, chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other medications for intravenous/irrigation therapy. Reviews and verifies medication orders for accuracy and completeness. Monitors patient's drug therapy to detect/prevent drug interactions, contraindications, and other adverse reactions. Makes appropriate interventions to improve patient care. Uses and is proficient in the operation of the pharmacy computer system. Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical agents/products. Obtains pertinent patient medication/medical information. Provides current and accurate drug information to patients and health care professionals. Maintains appropriate records and inventory on all drugs/pharmaceutical agents. Monitors the proper storage and distribution of patient floor stock, controlled drugs, and emergency medications. Communicates effectively with patients and health care professionals.
