The van driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the facility driving the facility van. This job will primarily consist of local vehicle operations involving transporting elders to and from appointments, elder outings and other errands the supervisor requests. Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition. Develop and maintain a good work rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department. Taking vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate, and reporting any significant changes to the supervising nurse or physician. Assisting with patient hygiene, such as bathing and grooming, and helping patients with toileting needs. Providing emotional support to patients and their families. Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records. Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and monitoring patients' food and fluid intake. Transporting patients to and from various locations, such as the dining room or therapy sessions. Adhering to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.

Under direct supervision this position is accountable to the RN to facilitate a safe and secure environment for the patient/resident, family and providers in the department in completion of the duties delegated to them for the shift and maintaining clear communication between the needs of the patient/resident through the RN.
