1815

En 1815, la Real Cédula de Gracias concedió terrenos de la Corona sobre la isla para el desarrollo agrícola a fin de estimular la economía local a través de nuevas granjas y negocios.

In 1885, a forest guard was assigned to patrol the Luquillo Mountains.

1905

In 1905, narrow trails existed to El Yunque, sites across the mountains to the south, and into the Espíritu Santo and Jiménez watersheds.

1940

In 1981 the El Yunque National Forest's Field Office was moved from Sabana to the newly constructed Catalina Work Center located at the entrance to the main entrance to the forest.

1998

2000- Caribbean National Forest starts a collaboration agreement with the Puerto Rico Army National Guard to implement a long term archaeological survey of Camp Santiago Training Center in Salinas.

2012- Work starts in the development of a new Forest Management Plan under the leadership of Pedro Rios as planner.

2016

2016- Sharon Wallace becomes forest supervisor, making her the first female to occupy that position at El Yunque National Forest.

2017

Puerto Rican parrots are released in to the wild for the first time since Hurricane Maria in 2017.
