Pros of working at Raising Cane's

Restaurant leaders are well compensated in our region. The benefits are outstanding, the base pay alone is competitive, and the advancement opportunities are ample.

Cons of working at Raising Cane's

Long, long hours. They're working on a "give back time" initiative but it needs a lot of work to live up to its namesake. The things they cut save us minutes in a day, when in reality restaurant leaders will always work at least 50 hour weeks, but I have gone as high as 77 hour weeks. I would say 55-60 hours/week is still the average.

Raising Cane's benefits

The insurances are pretty fantastic. Dental, in particular, is outstanding. Bonuses can be good if you manage a store that doesn't rely on security (this is seen as a controllable cost, even in areas where it is out of your hands). The advancement opportunities are great in our market, but if you are in a well established area the opportunities are few. Overall, this is an incredible company.

What do you like best about Raising Cane's's CEO and the leadership team?

They always strive to improve. They have a good mindset when it comes to improvement.

How would you improve Raising Cane's's culture?

Go all in with the give back time initiative. Bring salaried leaders down to 40 hour weeks. Actually deliver on the promise of giving back time.

How did you prepare for the Raising Cane's interview?

I ate at my local Cane's often and saw how the company's culture reflected in the crew. Culture is a point of pride for this company, as it should be. They truly strive to give operators the tools to succeed and the crew the systems to have a ton of fun at work.

How does your compensation at Raising Cane's compare to the industry average?

In our market the base pay is unbeatable. I can't speak to the older markets. If you achieve the status of restaurant partner (often takes many years) you'll be financially set for life.

What's the diversity at Raising Cane's like?

It's hard to comment on this without bias. America has systemic issues. This company is not problematic like other companies I have worked for. They are probably not the leader in this arena either. When it comes to management, it is based on merit, full stop.

What brings you the most joy at Raising Cane's?

I love a good challenge and seeing my restaurant achieve results nobody thought were possible gives me a big sense of pride. We promote many people from within and many of those go on to do incredible things in this company. Todd built this company on a dream that through resilience and hard work he could achieve something amazing. It is obvious that mindset lives on through our current CEO.
