POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs entry-level or craftsman-level work associated with heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures. Performs craftsman level work associated with refrigeration equipment including coolers, freezers, and related systems.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in HVAC or related field.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements;
Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree or technical school training in HVAC systems;
Type I, II, and III chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responds to assigned work orders relating to HVAC; troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution.
Assists in replacing faulty or defective HVAC equipment and systems.

Adheres to WCPSS policies including laws, regulations, and requirements relating to workplace safety.
Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses a variety of equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 75 pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment, as well as frequent exposure to hazardous materials, gases and chemicals, moving parts, and inclement weather conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main Objectives
