In the 1980’s, Raleigh Radiology Associates (RRA) became the first practice in Raleigh to use film screen mammography, greatly reducing the radiation dose to patients and providing higher quality mammography.
In 1985, RRA opened the Raleigh Breast Center to offer women a more private and comfortable environment.

2001 First to offer Cardiac Scoring, a noninvasive test to evaluate heart disease risk in asymptomatic patients
In October 2002, each satellite office of RRA was incorporated into one brand to unite the practice.
2002 First to introduce CAD (computer –aided detection) for mammography
2004 First to bring office-wide outpatient PACS to Raleigh
2005 First to bring digital mammography to Raleigh
In 2007, the Cedarhurst facility added the Triangle’s first high field 1.5T Open Bore MRI. In the fall of 2007, three additional outpatient centers opened—Raleigh Radiology Cary, Raleigh Radiology Wake Forest and Raleigh Radiology Clayton.
In 2009, the Blue Ridge facility opened a Vascular and Interventional Clinic offering varicose and spider vein therapy, as well as interventional procedures such as uterine fibroid embolization and cryoablations.
In 2010, RRA expanded our CT services and opened a new facility in Brier Creek with additional services including mammography, ultrasound, and MRI.
Our Cary facility opened in November 2011 as a modern, state-of-the-art, full service imaging center.
The Cary facility has a dedicated women’s imaging area—the Cedarhurst facility was also expanded in 2011 to improve women’s imaging services.
2013 First in the Triangle to offer 3D breast tomosynthesis mammography
In October 2018, our Blue Ridge office began offering CT Cardiac Scoring for non-invasive scans of the heart.
2018 saw substantial growth.
In February 2019, our Blue Ridge office expanded its service line again by offering Nuclear Medicine procedures.
2019 will bring growth to our service lines to enhance accessibility with accountability, including Nuclear Medicine and CT Calcium Scoring with new locations planned to increase convenience and access for the citizens of the Triangle.
