Ram Tool company history timeline

1967

1967 Dee Gonder starts Ram Tool, beginning a legacy of service done right.

1968

In 1968 Ram was sued by Globe Tool & Engineering Co. for infringing on a pair of motor-winding patents, 2,627,379 and 3,013,737, both granted to Harry W. Moore (president of Globe). Ram was using motor winders supplied by Possis Machine Corp.

1976

What started out of a 2-car garage from the home of Roy and Arlene Kannenberg with the single purchase of a lathe for Roy to make snowmobile parts in his spare time back in 1976.

1979

Roy moved his operations to a manufacturing site in Cedarburg in 1979, quit his full-time job, and RAM Tool became incorporated.

1984

1984 Mimi Head, without any prior distribution experience, immersed herself in the operation and began making key investments and leading the company into new territory.

1985

1985 Ram Tool completes its first acquisition of a competitor in Mobile, AL making it a multi-branch operation.

1987

From an article at Automation.com, Bison Gear & Engineering Corp., of St Charles, IL, purchased Ram Tool Corp shortly after Bison was acquired by Ron Bullock in 1987.

1989

Their daughter, Michelle joined the family business in 1989 after gaining financial background in the banking industry.

1993

1993 Hillery Head, current CEO, joins Ram Tool.

1995

In 1995 RAM Tool had once again outgrown its current home and relocated its business to the Grafton Corporate Park.

1997

1997 Maye Head joins Ram Tool as VP of Administration.

2005

In mid 2005 RAM diversified their company and went into prototype tooling and custom machining as well.

2009

2009 Mimi Head retires and Hillery Head becomes CEO of Ram Tool.

2012

2012 Ram Tool acquires Marco Supply, expanding to the following locations: Charleston, SC; Greenville, SC; Columbia, SC; Charlotte, NC; Washington, DC; Richmond, VA; Roanoke, VA; Chesapeake, VA; Charleston, WV. In addition, Ram Tool opens new store in San Antonio, TX.

2013

2013 Ram Tool acquires TCS, expanding to Greensboro, NC and Durham, NC.

2014

2014 Ram Tool acquires Otto Dukes Supply in Corpus Christi, TX; and opens a new location in Oklahoma City, OK.

2015

2015 Ram Tool acquires Jim & Slim’s Tool Supply and expands to Largo, FL.

2016

2016 Ram Tool promotes Page Naftel from VP of Sales to President and expands into Tampa, FL and Orlando, FL.

2018

2018 Ram Tool moves into a new corporate location in Birmingham, Alabama; expands into Kentucky by opening a branch in Louisville; expands into Ohio by opening a branch in Cincinnati; and grows in Florida with the addition of a Fort Lauderdale location.

2019

2019 Ram Tool kicks off the new year as it expands into Illinois and opens a new location in Chicago; opens branches in Wilmington, NC and Miami, FL.

2020

2020 Ram Tool opens a new location in Columbus, OH.
