is seeking a Ranch Assistant to work on a 7,000+ acre property 14 miles south of DHanis, TX, and about 55 miles west of San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a collaborative work environment, as well as able to work independently. This position is diverse as the responsibilities may vary daily in support of the ranch, as well as hunting and fishing operations of native South Texas game. Must be able to work as needed, including occasional late hours and weekends. A minimum of three years related ranch experience is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General grounds and lawn care on occasion
General field and shop activities
Building and facility maintenance/repair (painting, basic carpentry, plumbing)
Pest control
Watercraft and motor vehicle maintenance
Filling deer feeders
Processing game animals during hunting season(s)to include aging, scoring and guiding

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate must have at minimum one-year experience using the following equipment:

The ideal candidate must have:

The closest town to the ranch is Dhanis, Texas in Medina County. Housing on the ranch is not provided for this position. The position will have the same employee benefits package, vacation, time off, and savings-retirement plans as Zachry corporate employees. The work schedule is generally 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, although that can vary and increase at certain times of the year to include weekend work. A Zachry vehicle will be used while working on the ranch.
Candidates must be able to pass drug screening, reference and motor vehicle check and must have a valid drivers license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee will be required to frequently work out-doors on a ranch, with exposure to the elements, conducting the above job responsibilities and more. Communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi-limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. Will be required to lift, carry and move a minimum of 10 lbs up to 50 lbs objects safely. Must possess a vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility from a distance of 20 inches or less.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee will work in multiple environments including outdoors at a ranch, in an office, warehouse and a trailer or building on site. Working at a ranch, you will typically see/encounter ranch wildlife as well as wild animals/reptiles, so caution and safety personal protective equipment is necessary. On work sites noise levels will be low to moderate. Job site will contain light to heavy-equipment vehicles, small to large ranch equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms.

Slide Ranch seeks a Ranch Hand who will be responsible for day-to-day upkeep, maintenance and support the repair of the farm including animal care, garden, facilities, staff housing and outdoor improvements, such as trails and fencing, in a manner that is safe and appropriate for providing hands-on educational programs to the public.
Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization providing farm-based environmental education to over 10,000 visitors a year on its coastal farm and nature preserve in Marin County. The Ranch Hand reports to the Executive Director and is part of the Ranch Operations Team, which also includes a Senior Operations Manager, a Garden Manager, an Animal Care Manager and a Facilities Manager. The Ranch Hand coordinates regularly with the Ranch Team to assist with maintenance tasks and chores as needed or directed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supports the maintenance of the ranch facilities, including all buildings, grounds and trails in a safe, functional and attractive manner.
Supports maintenance of all utility systems at Slide Ranch including: water system, plumbing systems, electrical systems, appliances, wood burning stoves and electrical heating systems, waste management and disposal systems including trash, recycling, and composting toilets.
Works with staff to help maintain the water system, including daily monitoring and sampling, repairs, and monthly sampling in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Helps the team maintain fire safety systems including fire extinguishers, smoke alarms and wood stoves.
Helps maintain Ranch workshop and tools in clean and safe working order.
