Summary:
The Student Accounts Customer Service Representative provides front-line customer service to the Bursar's office; answers the phone, services walk-in customers and maintains accurate financial transactions related to student accounts. Accountable for all aspects of processing student payments to include: vendor invoicing and reconciliations.

Core responsibilities include:
Serves as a front line customer service representative, providing accurate and timely information about student accounts charges and payment, payments plans, refunds, outside scholarships, third-party payments, and 1098T tax forms.
Manages outside scholarship process and third-party contracts: Posts, releases, and reconciles scholarship memos to student accounts. Invoices and follows up with scholarship organizations and third-party contract vendors about payments that have not been received or need to be returned by the University. Monitors outstanding invoices, and delinquent accounts. Maintains scholarship and third-party files utilizing a document imaging system. Reviews all memos for accuracy prior to the e-bill process being run to ensure that the information is up to date.
Assists students with Tuition Installment Payment Plan: reviews student's enrollment eligibility, set up, adjustments, ensures tuition and fees are covered by a payment plan, and resolves students' payment plan inquiries, including payments made via Touchnet payment system, late fees, and delinquencies.
Processes contracts for local school districts, Virginia 529, Post 911 GI Bill, invoices contract organizations and reconciles all records of payments received to rosters.
Processes all employee waivers and senior citizen waivers per Commonwealth of Virginia and University policy.
Assists with all Military billing processes
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Strong background in customer service/customer relations
Demonstrated experience with accounting or fiscal administration.
Knowledge of student accounts, collections, and financial aid processes.
Familiarity with accounting policies and procedures, with demonstrated cash handling skills.
Knowledge of student loan processing of both private and federal loans.
Proficiency in a variety of software applications, including MS Office (specifically Word, and Excel) and automated accounting software programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively with a diverse University community, exercising diplomacy and good judgment in all interactions.
Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to learn and apply processes and procedures and resolve a multitude of issues within the scope of the position.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and manage competing priorities in stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications
University-level courses in accounting, finance, or closely related fields.
Knowledge of Commonwealth VA policies and procedures particularly in a higher-education setting.
Knowledge of Banner student and finance modules or another ERP-based module system.
Working knowledge of the TouchNet system is desirable.
Experience working in student accounts or Bursar's office is highly preferred.
Experience using Banner (Finance) or a similar Oracle-based accounting system is desirable.

Position Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled IT Manager to oversee all IT functions at SEED, DC. This role is critical in supporting our students and staff by ensuring seamless network operations, reliable technology infrastructure, and robust cybersecurity measures. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the IT Manager will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure in alignment with The SEED Foundation's network guidance and best practices.

Oyster Aquaculture Training Program participants will assist in all oyster aquaculture operations of ABC. Specific rotations will be ABC hatchery operations performed within the Acuff Center for Aquaculture, at the VIMS /Batten School land-based nursery, at four field sites and in the ABC flow cytometry laboratory. Participants will work at least one day per week at Mobjack Bay Seafood; a commercial oyster and clam operation in Ware Neck, Virginia. There, participants will rotate between hatchery, nursery, and farm operations. Participants will also have opportunities to work with additional VIMS researchers and will also have the opportunity and are encouraged to participate in externships/work experiences with other bivalve hatcheries and commercial aquaculture farms.
Duties will also include:
Broodstock maintenance within the Acuff Center will include oyster spawning and larval rearing, setting of oyster larvae and algal culture.
Husbandry of oyster seed will occur at the VIMS/Batten school land-based nursery.
Field work on all ABC biological material will be performed afield sites (local and up to 4 hours away).
Basket/bag deployment, density reduction, monitoring of grow out conditions, sampling etc.
Maintenance of hatchery and field equipment, building hatchery and field equipment.
Assistance with laboratory activities including flow cytometry, sampling for programmatic work and externally funded projects.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School graduate/equivalent, with experience in biology and biological processes not limited to course work (may include prior work experiences).
Competencies:
Basic understanding of biology as it pertains to animals living in freshwater or marine systems.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow written and oral instructions with strict attention to detail and show initiative.
Self-starter.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in inclement weather conditions and perform comfortably in the field and on the water.
Experience:
Experience in aquaculture or marine biology.

Conditions of Employment:
This is a non-exempt position eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the fair labor standards act.
Participants are expected to work 40 hours per week. Occasional long hours and regular weekend hours, including during holidays, is expected and required throughout the program.
This position is a temporary (hourly) position not to exceed 6 months. The end date may be flexible if program participant obtains employment just prior to program finishing.
All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed on average 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
Valid driver's license needs to be maintained during employment (may be required to drive a state vehicle).
Must have own reliable transportation.
Ability to successfully perform duties in the field and on the water and perform duties in all weather conditions.
