The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County provides opportunities for people to connect with nature.

The District's mission is, "to acquire and hold lands containing forests, prairies, wetlands and associated plant communities or lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of it's citizens.
Job purpose
This position assists Ranger staff in the upkeep of District preserves, facilities and amenities, while providing clean/safe preserves for the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Preserve/grounds maintenance including opening preserves, de-littering, latrine cleaning and upkeep of amenities
• Working guidance to seasonal staff (maintenance and camp staff only)
• Preserve inspections including trails, boundaries, water controls, special facilities and amenities
• Lead or assist alongside Division staff with various recreational programs including but not limited to archery, fishing, paddling, geocaching, camps, and special events
• Interact with the participants, engage in activities, be a positive role model and provide appropriate leadership to program participants
• Take direction/receive working guidance from Ranger staff
• Provide District information to the participants regarding the preserves, facility operations, recreational opportunities, rules and regulations
• Assist with facility operations
• Keep neat and accurate records including reports on programs, incidents/injuries, equipment damage, documentation of behavioral issues, time accounting, time sheets, etc.
• Perform as first responder to emergency situations
• Operate power tools and motor vehicles
• Perform other duties as required
Education and Experience Required
Additional Information: Must be 18 years of age or older by the first day of employment.

Hours: Up to 6 Month Assignment; approximately 40 hours per week (hours vary and will include weekends and holidays.

Pay: $14.00 an hour
Preferred Experience: Good written and oral communication skills and well organized; Meet assigned deadlines with
minimal supervision; Have a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills; Preserve maintenance; Facility Operations;
Recreational Programming; Natural Resource Management.

Special training or other license, certification, etc.: CPR/1st Aid; must have a valid Driver's License.

Skills In: Dealing effectively with the public; expressing oneself clearly and concisely; handling revenues and operating a
cash register; sound decision making; prioritization of tasks; time management; interpreting rules and regulations; keeping
neat and accurate records; knowledge of District preserves, rules, policies and safety procedures; operation of power tools
and motor vehicles.

Rangers assist with all site setup/cleanup for arriving and departing guests. They escort arrivals to their site after normal business hours, communicate all issues and concerns to the Resort Manager, and monitor the pool(s) for unregistered guests, all while providing excellent customer service.

* Lead RVs to sites, locating them properly within individual site areas. Assist guests with site set-up as needed.
* Check transient sites daily for departures; remove trash from recently vacated transient sites.
* Check all sites for issues or problems (i.e. water, sewer, hornets, etc.) and reports to manager.
* Inspect tied down RVs, park models, and manufactured homes for cleanliness, rust, damage, and other problems prior to permitting their rental or sale.
* Complete various surveys of tied down units as required.
* Handle guest and resident questions and complaints directly or refer them to the appropriate department.
* Treat sites, both manufactured home and RV, for fire ant infestation as requested and as a normal procedure when spotting units on site.
* Oversee the sales of sewer donuts and electrical adapters (if applicable).
* Complete site measurements as requested.
* Deliver special packages and/or one-day mail to appropriate sites.
* Assist with coverage at the main gate.
* Routinely check resort amenities (i.e.: pools) for unregistered guests.
* Tag vehicles for removal by owner at unrented transient sites.
* Follow safety procedures while performing duties.
* Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

* High School Diploma or GED
* Valid driver's license
* General knowledge of janitorial work, plumbing, electrical and grounds maintenance
* Proficient skills in operating various power equipment and hand tools
* Ability to provide legible written reports
* Good organizational and verbal communication skills
* Hard-working and willingness to take direction and carry-out tasks
* Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
* Basic computer proficiency including the ability to use email and internet
* Flexibility to respond to resort needs during non-business hours

We are seeking a *Full-Time Road Rangers*, to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

*Shift: *PM/Overnights, Friday, 14:00 - 22:00 and Saturday - Sunday, 18:00 - 06:00

*Full Time, Tuesday - Friday*

*Wage: * $18.00/hour

As a Safety Service Patrol Operator, known as a Road Ranger in the State of Florida, you would patrol a designated highway route, assisting disabled motorists, maintaining the flow of traffic, and supporting local and/state Police, Fire or Emergency Service Units for scene safety.

*Position Details: *

* Provides Traffic Incident Management services.
* Monitors the safety of roadways and assists with disabled/abandoned vehicles, lane-closures, debris in the roadway, and general roadway incidents.
* Provides roadside assistance to stranded motorists, including but not limited to changing tires, jump starting a battery, providing coolant, providing fuel, removing debris from the travel lanes, and other minor mechanical repairs.
* Works closely with and assist other first responders with incident management.
* Maintaining online system for reporting incidents.
* Working with Traffic Management Centers to ensure following directives.

*REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: *

* High School diploma or GED
* Must have automotive mechanical knowledge.
* 2+ years of experience in a similar field and 3+ years of driving experience
* Demonstrated safe driving record
* Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
* Must have a general working knowledge of vehicle maintenance and traffic incident management.
* Successfully pass a comprehensive background and criminal check, as well as a drug test.
* Military, Police or Firefighter background is a PLUS!

*CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: *

* Must possess a valid state Driver's License.
* Knowledge of all tools necessary to perform all maintenance repair and diagnostics.

*ABILITIES, PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB REQUIRED: *

* Knowledge of vehicle operations and safety guidelines.
* Proficient in the use of all tools of the trade, shop equipment and power tools including but not limited to jacks, hydraulic lifts, air tools and diagnostic equipment.
* Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
* Capable of working with peers, the public and management from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.
* While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands, talk, and hear.
* The position also frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl. In addition to frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs.
