As a MLT PRN at MercyOne, you will Performs clinical testing, quality control, and maintenance in assigned departments, independently following established guidelines and predetermined criteria. Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or results and uses knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and resolve them. Consults with co-workers, supervisors, managers, or Pathologist when appropriate. Schedule: * Varies as PRN General Requirements: * May be hired into this position if he/she has completed the requirements for registration but has not successfully completed the MLT exam; however, the exam must be successfully completed within 6 months subsequent to hiring. Demonstrates professionalism and teamwork. * Has knowledge of and can operate laboratory related computer software and systems. Education: * Associate degree in a science-related field with a certificate of completion from a Medical Laboratory Technician program from an accredited institution. Military education and experience will be considered providing that the applicant has completed the full laboratory training course of 52 weeks and has at least one year's experience in a military hospital. * A minimum of six months clinical internship is preferred. Those with military education will need at least one year's experience in a military hospital. Ages served range from newborn to geriatric. * Performs procedures in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, immunohematology, serology, microbiology, and virology. * Reports results, both normal and abnormal to the appropriate party. Performs instrument maintenance, quality control and activities to meet federal and state standards. * Follows procedures to completion to ensure accuracy of results.     Join the MercyOne Genesis Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Technician! As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will: * Be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. * Utilize use of the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests. * Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum. * Review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call providers' offices to obtain orders. * Process specimens in the appropriate way, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability. * Ready specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing the required paperwork for transfer and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported in a timely manner, including calling a STAT courier and completing the necessary paperwork for the transfer. * Perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT. * Keep accurate records, such as temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing and daily, weekly and monthly maintenance.
