Our Furniture RepairTechnician in Training Program trains associates to fully repair furniture for our customers, whether it be stitching upholstery, repairing wood and leather, or repairing mechanisms in motion furniture. Our Furniture RepairTechnicians work and train in the comfort of our service centers.
The RepairTechnician in Training is 7-12 weeks along with monetary growth based on skill completion. The training program offers five levels of craftsmanship techniques to master color, finishes, upholstery, leather, structure repair etc.
Responsibilities / Requirements:
* Ability to lift, lower, push, and pull all sizes of furniture up to and in excess of 100 lbs
* Must be comfortable working with hands and display an aptitude for craftsmanship, artistic, and/or carpentry services
* Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and professionalism at all times
* Knowledge of mixing paints, powders and stains to match existing finishes
* Ability to repair, replace, and rebuild damaged leather, upholstery furniture, or mechanical parts
* Ability to set up and operate tools such as power drills, sanders, saws, and other tools required for repair
* Excellent listening skills and the ability to work both independently and with a team

Expectations
* Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance MHE (Lift Trucks, Pallet Jacks, Order Pickers) to maximize the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods on all MHE, perform quality maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all MHE.
* Perform maintenance repairs on all MHE such as inspections, scheduled repairs, and malfunctions in a safe, efficient, and quality manner to include, but not limited to: Addressing all VIR write-ups in a timely manner, Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to MHE components.
Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
* Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
* Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
* Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
* Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
* Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
* Order parts and maintain required documents.
* Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* 3-5 years working experience on Material Handling Equipment preferred.
* Experience working on Crown lift trucks preferred
* Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics
* Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
* Physical demands to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and crawl
* Welding/fabricating experience preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Must have own tools.
* Dependable, self-motivated professional able to work with minimal supervision.
* Ability to safely operate lift trucks.
* Two years working experience in facility maintenance.
* Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry is a plus.

Our Furniture RepairTechnicians are trained to fully repair all furniture whether it be stitching upholstery; wood and leather repairs, or repairing mechanisms in motion furniture, while in the customers' homes. Using our company vans, our technicians travel to our customers' homes to perform in home repairs and provide excellent customer service.
This is a 4-month apprenticeship where you will be promoted once completing the training program. This position is based out of our Reading, MA store with training out of our Nashua, NH warehouse. During training the hours of this position will be Monday - Thursday; 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM out of our Nashua warehouse. Upon completion of training the hours of this position will be Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM out of our Reading, MA store and may require working outside and above regular hours at times.
Pay Range: $22.00 per hour

Responsibilities we will trust you to perform:
Refinishes and patches damaged furniture including paint, stain, enamel or lacquers; mixes paints and stains to match existing finish
Repairs, replaces and rebuilds damaged leather or upholstery furniture or mechanical parts
Sets up and operates such tools as power drills, sanders, saws, and other tools required for repair
Completes repair related paperwork and other documentation as required
Safely drives company van to customers' homes to assess and repair damaged furniture
Effectively educates and informs customers on repair techniques and/or warranty programs

* Knowledge of mixing paints, powders and stains to match existing finishes
