The Buyer/Planner is responsible for overseeing the procurement process of direct materials needed by the site. The work includes executing daily procurement tasks in our ERP system, maintaining effective supplier communication and coordination for the delivery of materials, and developing effective purchasing strategies that align with our business objectives. Additionally, this buyer is expected to assist in the planning and execution of site initiatives involving supplier changes, exits, and startups. What You Will Do
Perform MRP analysis and execution to support program goals during the drawdown of actuation work centers for duration of on-site support
Responsible for all associated parts and assigned MRP messages including but not limited to buy, expedite, defer and cancel.
Report on and troubleshoot MRP system generated exceptions; and take corrective action on unfavorable trends as necessary
Monitoring supplier performance and identifying/mitigating gaps in production support, escalating to management when appropriate
Collaborate with design, planning, and engineering teams to develop last-time buy (LTB) strategies.
Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on change management
Implement Lean manufacturing measures to ensure value streams and shop operations are balanced at all times and/or to be able to identify areas of opportunity
Communicate to peers and management, the requirements that support processes to ensure smooth production flow
Qualification You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
At least 3 years of experience with Manufacturing Planning
Experience with and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) System, specifically with SAP
Advanced Excel Skills-Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's, Queries

Operate and maintain furnaces and other equipment to produce fluoride materials.
Accurately weigh, mix, and transfer chemicals before and after processing

This position will be for a Material/Process Engineer located in Charlotte, NC.

* Develop crystal growth processes for materials new to SYNOPTICS.
* Work with manufacturing personnel to develop, improve, document, and transition new processes to manufacturing.
