Our San Diego Manufacturing Depot provides sustainment support for legacy Raytheon magnetics products used in Aegis and Patriot Radar systems. We build and repair electrical transformers, power supplies, and magnetic assemblies utilizing expertise in coil winding, electrical assembly, soldering, encapsulation, welding/machining, and electrical testing.
A successful candidate will join a small, highly skilled team directly supporting the warfighter mission. This position follows a 9/80 work schedule.
The Electrical Assembly II - Coil Winder is responsible for precision winding of transformer coils and magnetic assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications and military standards. This role supports the sustainment of fielded radar systems and directly impacts mission readiness of the warfighter.
What You Will Do:
Operate heavy-duty, star, and toroidal coil winding machines to wind wire coils to exact specifications using specialized tools and techniques.
Prepare materials and components-including cores, wire, coil tubes, insulation, and stators-for winding operations.
Apply insulation materials, terminate and solder leads in accordance with J-STD-001, and perform necessary trimming and preparation steps.
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of wound coils; perform tests to verify compliance with quality requirements and engineering drawings.
Assist with basic maintenance, setup, calibration, or minor repairs of coil-winding machines and tooling.
Follow detailed work instructions, travelers, and engineering documentation; accurately record production data and quality results.
Cut, strip, bend, route, and secure wire leads using pliers, wire scrapers, and other hand tools.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; adhere strictly to Raytheon safety procedures and EHS requirements.
Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to resolve issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement.
Lift, carry, or move components up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
Ability to work independently and within a small, highly skilled team on a 9/80 schedule.
This is an onsite, 2nd-shift position supporting depot production operations.
What You Will Learn:
Strong understanding of electrical components and basic electrical principles.
Proficiency with hand tools and wire-handling tools.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move materials as required.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Minimum 1 year of relevant manufacturing or assembly experience.
Minimum 1 year of production hand-soldering experience.
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and/or work instructions.
Qualifications We Prefer:
J-STD-001 soldering certification.
Experience winding coils for transformers or magnetic assemblies.
Familiarity with military/defense manufacturing environments or AS9100/ISO-certified facilities.
Experience with electrical testing, insulation materials, or measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
Experience troubleshooting winding machine issues and support continuous improvement.

Work to improve manufacturing documentation, processes, yield, test efficiency, workflows, test equipment and test procedures to optimize product manufacture and test efficiency as well as improve product/test yield.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware manufacturing, quality and test issues to support production schedules.
Translate engineering design requirements into manufacturing operations sheets, work instructions, tooling and test equipment, workflows and processes.
Support daily manufacturing areas with hands-on hardware troubleshooting and incorporation/creation of changes (Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders).
Disposition of non-conforming material with root cause, corrective action and defect analysis as required to prevent recurrence.
Provide real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, in-house as well as the supply base.
Review design drawings for manufacturability and cost (DFM, DFC).
Work to achieve operational targets and KPIs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree of S cience, Technology or Engineering and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 5 years prior relevant manufacturing engineering experience with military products.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance which requires US Citizenship

Basic Qualifications

Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. U.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Cisco's plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.
U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Cisco's policies:
* 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees
* 1 paid day off for employee's birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco
* Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees
* Exempt employees participate in Cisco's flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations)
* 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next
* Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members
* Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco's policies.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
* .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
* 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
* 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
* Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
The applicable full salary ranges for this position, by specific state, are listed below:
New York City Metro Area:
$94,200.00 - $137,500.00
Non-Metro New York state & Washington state:
$84,000.00 - $122,200.00
* For quota-based sales roles on Cisco's sales plan, the ranges provided in this posting include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.
