This individual is responsible for a wide variety of maintenance, repairs and installations of machinery and plant equipment. Must be able to quickly and accurately diagnose mechanical problems and determine a course of action combined with the knowledge and skill to independently break down and reassemble any item requiring repair or replacement. The toolmaker is responsible for setting up and operating a wide variety of tool room machines including but not limited to lathes, millers, grinders and tooling such as collets, chucks, assembly fixtures, jaws, drill digs, etc. Must be able to plan, design and construct intricate tools, dies, fixtures, gages to work to and with extremely close tolerances. This individual will also work from engineered drawings, specs or instructions from the supervisor and must be capable of determining the best methods and machines required to manufacture machine tools. This individual is responsible for maintaining equipment in good working condition and performing regular and preventative maintenance procedures such as, but not limited to replacing lights, various filters, inspection of various equipment such as boilers, furnaces, air conditioning units, etc. Employee must also be able to perform basic plumbing, light welding and general painting as well as simple, routine maintenance on any equipment in the plant. Must keep the work clean and neat and inform the supervisor of any equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced. May also perform experimental work other duties involving basic plumbing or light welding, general painting or other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Principal Responsibilities * Capable of reading and understanding complex drawings. * Ability to use a variety of complex inspection gages and equipment. * Performs visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerances. * Identifies defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blue prints and Heim quality standards. Under the direction of the inspection supervisor or leadperson(s), this individual must be able to perform inspection procedures on a variety of bearing components and finished assemblies. This individual must be able to read complex drawings and perform inspection operations as required using measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, and direct reading instruments such as air gages, plug gages and torque and radial clearance gages and Rockwell hardness tester. This person must be able to select the appropriate inspection instrument, perform inspection operations according to a specified sampling plan and prepare necessary paperwork when parts fail to meet print specifications. This individual will be responsible for reporting any discrepancies to either the leadperson(s) or the supervisor. Other responsibilities include keeping the workplace clean, moving work being inspected within the area of the workplace and performing any other reasonable duties as assigned by inspection supervision.

The role of this position will be implementing new and maintaining existing equipment for the bearing manufacturing processes at RBC - Aircraft Products. The scope of this role includes identifying opportunities to reduce costs with improved equipment and systems, supporting the troubleshooting and repair production equipment to improved utilization, improvement of existing equipment control systems, developing additional functionality to production equipment, and developing/maintaining a system for tracking equipment control software.
