1954: William Child takes over the business.
Child's brother Sheldon joined him in 1956.
The company built its second store in 1969.
1969: A second store opens in Murray, Utah.
1990: Six stores have sales of $100 million.
The company opened its Central Distribution Center in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley in 1991.
Berkshire Hathaway Buys Company in 1995
Its Intermountain Distribution Center, erected next to Salt Lake International Airport in 1997, was the largest of its kind in the United States at 860,000 square feet.
R.C. Willey expanded outside Utah for the first time in August 1999, when it opened a store in Meridian, Idaho (near Boise). It instantly claimed the leading spot in that market.
