A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SUBSTITUTE BEHAVIORTECHNICIAN
As a Substitute BehaviorTechnician, you begin each shift ready to help adults with developmental disabilities live their best lives as independently as possible. You have made it your mission to ensure the comfort and safety of each client. In our residential group home, you assist our residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
You also assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you teach them new skills and help them achieve goals. Based on each individual's preferences and behavioral plans, you encourage their interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities. You are happy to help them find greater access to the community. You are conscientious about reporting any concerns about their health and safety and keeping documentation accurate and up-to-date.
Some aspects of this job are not easily accomplished but at the end of each shift, knowing your clients are happy makes you feel great about the work you do!
EXPECTATIONS OF A SUBSTITUTE BEHAVIORTECHNICIAN:
Must work minimum of 4 shifts per month at any support program
Substitute Direct Support Professionals may be pulled to work at other locations by the On-Call Manager/Director, therefore, Program Orientation must be completed for each support location within the county selected to work. Program sites are located in Somerville, Hillsborough, South Bound Brook & Raritan.
Communicate any availability changes to your Supervisor
Reply to any voicemail/email within a 24-hour timeframe
Review and comply with Training Policy and complete all mandatory trainings in a timely manner. Rescheduling of trainings must be done with your Supervisor
WORK SCHEDULE
We operate 24-hour residential group homes which means our Substitute BehaviorTechnicians have many shift options including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
TRAINING
All employees are required to complete 10-15 trainings upon hire and on an ongoing basis. Trainings are a combination of in person, which require staff to commute to the main office in Raritan NJ, and remote, using Go To Meeting. All trainings are paid.

The Elevations Clinic Treatment Program Clinical Therapist is a licensed clinician who provides supportive and proactive interventions to serve all clients on their caseload who are experiencing mental health and/or behavioral health challenges. The Clinical Therapist uses evidence-based and trauma -informed therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to: psychotherapy, psychoeducation, care management, advocacy, and crisis intervention to help clients achieve improved mental health and well-being. The Clinical Therapist supports individuals and their families through challenging times and ensures that vulnerable people, including children and adults, are safeguarded from harm. The caseload for the Clinical Therapist position includes clients living within Rise Life Services residential facilities as well as clients from the community including adolescents, youth and adults.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Review referral packets; complete initial screening and intake appointment independently or collaboratively with any additional relevant clinical staff necessary
Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments and other needed assessments within scope of practice with assigned clients, obtain needed information, and create initial profile in electronic record.
Develop and maintain person-centered treatment plans and treatment plan reviews every 90 days or as needed for assigned clients
Provide psychotherapy, psychoeducation, case management, and/or other therapeutic treatment deemed appropriate and necessary
Provide complex care management as needed
Prepare contemporaneous progress notes for all appointments, completed, signed and locked within 72 hours of service delivery
Attend all clinical staff meetings and regular supervision meetings
Outreach clients who have missed appointments for follow up information/re-engagement and document all information in the electronic health record.
Prepare necessary letters and/or participation contracts for clients that are non-compliant with attendance. This includes monitoring compliance with medication appointments for clients that receive both therapy and medication management.
Complete all necessary paperwork including but not limited to Admission Decision, Discharge paperwork, Continued Stay Reviews, Service Change Forms.
Advocate for clients, meet with collateral contacts, and provide additional resources when necessary
Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions within scope of practice
Complete reports, additional documentation, and/or other duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and recordkeeping
Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.
Modify treatment plans according to changes in client status.
Establish collaborative working relationships with residential programs, treatment teams, and inpatient treatment teams if hospitalized and plan with them appropriate discharges for clients.
Foster relationship with community providers to ensure that clients are connected with appropriate services as they transition back into the community after hospitalization.
Provide ongoing psychoeducation to clients, their families and others within their support network.
Provide after-hours/on-call crisis intervention services to clients and their support network as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Master's degree in a related discipline AND
NYS license as one or more of the following: LCSW, LMSW, LMHC
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:
Minimum of 2 years' experience working with MH population in a clinical capacity is required Experience gained prior to licensure is accepted toward total.
Experience with diverse populations and age groups (children and adults) is required.
Experience facilitating group therapy is preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
Experience with electronic health record required.

Key Responsibilities

Obtain and review clinical records relevant to the current treatment episode.

Deliver individual and group substance abuse counseling services in accordance with treatment plans.
Conduct periodic reviews using ASAM to determine the need for continued services or discharge.
Revise treatment plans as needed to reflect client progress and new challenges.
Develop comprehensive discharge and transfer plans to ensure continuity of care.
Coordinate with referral sources, including mental health professionals, criminal justice agencies, schools, and employers.
Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Provide clinical consultation and care coordination across departments.
Document all assessments, counseling sessions, referrals, and follow-up services in the clinical record with proper signatures and dates.
Attend daily and weekly staffing meetings as scheduled.

Qualifications:

Who We Need
We are looking for patient, energetic and passionate Behavior Support Specialist for our LaGrange School program located in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team, focusing on the educational programming for all school-age children at every level of ability. This position will provide behavioral support for students in the classroom to increase student independence through age appropriate, functional means.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am-3:00pm, 32.5 hours per week, 48 weeks per year (which includes a 6-week summer program)
Pay Range: $17.82 - $19.82 per hour
Responsibilities:
Collect data as part of a functional behavior analysis.
Monitor behavior and strategies and interventions accordingly
Collaborate with classroom teacher on appropriate use of positive reinforcements.
Manage challenging behaviors of students in classroom using research-based practices.
Follows the classroom schedule ensuring that individual student's IEP, specifically behavioral goals are achieved.
Assists in the classroom to conduct individual and group activities.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and job skill training.
Attend therapy sessions with students to assist with behavior management and to allow for appropriate carryover in the classroom.
Assists in the organization and arrangement of the classroom as part of student's therapeutic behavior plan.
Escorts and assists students (via wheelchair, walker, etc.) to and from school buses while providing opportunities for students' increased independence in mobility and orientation.
Attends all specials with students (PE, art, music, etc.)
Takes off and puts on outdoor clothing as necessary and provide opportunities for students' increased independence in self-dressing and undressing.
Toilet children and use appropriate adaptive equipment if necessary. This should be done at least 3 times daily (more often when necessary.)
Change clothing when wet or soiled.
Change diapers and/or sanitary napkins as necessary.
Set up computers, communication device systems and related adaptive equipment.
Adhere to agency Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.
Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.
Performs other appropriate job-related activities as requested by your supervisor or as circumstances warrant.

Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
A combination of education and experience which in the opinion of school administration meets the needs of the school program.
Have the ability to push and pull students in wheelchairs, lift, bend, squat, turn in the knees, pivot and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques), with or without a reasonable accommodation.
