Reaching Maximum Independence, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation whose purpose is to provide high quality residential and vocational alternatives in San Antonio and suburban neighborhoods for persons with developmental disabilities and related disabilities (organic personality disorder, mental health disabilities, seizure disorder, etc.). A group of seven families with adult children/siblings with disabilities originally founded our organization through The Association for Retarded Citizens in 1982. RMI was separately incorporated in 1988 and obtained our 501 (C) (3) in 1990. We had a name change several years ago and became Reaching Maximum Independence.THROUGH ITS HOUSING OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND OTHER PROGRAMS, THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCOMODATE APPROXIMATELY 254 INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES IN RESIDENTIAL AND REHAB PROGRAMS.

CEO is brand new and trying to make an immense amount of changes to improve the boards satisfaction. Management/ Human Resources is the major problem.

Being together the entire staff, do some ACTIVE LISTENING, engage staff in finding good solutions, provide and ENCOURAGE our team with opportunities for advancement.

As a nonprofit we already HAVE to pay what is clearly not enough for the type of work we do but the pay is still not enough to survive on. You will need 2 or more jobs.

It's pretty diverse.

Visiting with my clients, going on outings with them, coming up with fun ideas to teach, include, and uplift them.
