Ask anyone, and chances are they know at least one real estate agent. It may be a family member, a friend, or the person who sold them their house. We know how busy their work-life can get. There are days when they are swamped with meetings with clients. Often, they spend their time doing open houses and tours for prospective buyers. It may get very chaotic for them, especially if they handle a lot of properties. This is where real estate administrative assistants come in.

As their title suggests, real estate administrative assistants are in charge of the administrative needs in a real estate company or of a real estate agent. They handle the paperwork involved and ensure all of those are completed within the deadline. They also manage the schedule of the agents.

At times, they are also tasked to handle logistics needs, such as transportation. They may also coordinate with suppliers for open house-related needs. This is an entry-level role. This might be a good place to start if you want a career in real estate. Just remember, you need to be reliable and organized!

What general advice would you give to a real estate administrative assistant?

During the pandemic, we've seen an increase in the number of people hoping to join the appraisal profession. This makes sense because appraisal work allows you to work out of your home independently, has flexible hours, and takes advantage of the latest technology. While many industries have had to make these shifts after the pandemic started, appraisers have been working this way for years, and we're pleased that folks looking to start or shift their careers are discovering these benefits in the appraisal profession.
