Job Overview
The Counsel, RealEstate provides legal support to Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Bluemercury on realestate-related matters, with a primary focus on realestate leasing, the negotiation of reciprocal easement agreements and other mall operating agreements, and a broad range of realestate contracts. This role also advises on miscellaneous realestate matters and manages disputes across all company functions.
What You Will Do
Advise and support cross-functional teams across Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Bluemercury on a broad range of realestate matters, including commercial leasing; acquisitions and dispositions of real property; reciprocal easement and supplemental agreements; tax and CAM issues; government condemnations; and other legal matters affecting the company's realestate portfolio.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of realestate contracts, with a strong emphasis on new retail leases and amendments to existing leases.
Advise the realestate business team on letters of intent for new retail leases.
Serve as a subject matter expert and provide support to the Litigation team on realestate-related disputes.
Provide support on additional legal matters and strategic initiatives as needed.
Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Skills You Will Need
Commercial RealEstate & Retail Leasing Expertise - Significant experience advising on commercial retail leasing, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating new retail leases and amendments within a complex retail realestate portfolio.
Shopping Center & REA Experience - Deep knowledge of reciprocal easement agreements, mall operating agreements, and legal matters related to regional and super-regional shopping center realestate.
RealEstate Transactions & Portfolio Management - Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, condemnations, and other transactional matters affecting large-scale realestate portfolios.
Contract Drafting & Negotiation - Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of realestate agreements, balancing legal risk with business objectives.
Legal Analysis & Risk Management - Strong ability to analyze complex legal and factual issues, assess risk, and deliver practical, business-focused legal advice.
Litigation Support & Dispute Management - Experience serving as a subject matter expert on realestate litigation and partnering effectively with litigation teams.
Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with business leaders and cross-functional partners across multiple brands and functions.

Who You Are
Candidates with a Juris Doctorate (JD) are encouraged to apply. 6 plus years of relevant law firm or in-house experience and in good standing with a state bar.

What You Will Do
Follow the roadmap supplied by mentors and our training program in an entrepreneurial and at times - independent autonomous manner.
Market investment realestate internally, externally, and to clients who are active investors
Collaborate with Senior Agents to achieve business and career goals with a clear “pathway to growth”.
Contract and advise clients in the development and execution of their individualized realestate investment strategies
Prepare thoughtful analyses of clients' properties, including broker opinions of value (BOV), and market comparables
Market exclusive property listings to qualified buyers

Job Description:
Provide daily support to the RealEstate Department, Portfolio Administration, and Property Projects; assisting with vital ongoing daily needs, which includes organizing and attending meetings, clerical daily activities allowing the Portfolio Administration Team to work on projects and more complex activities and providing assistance to the Sr. Director of RealEstate.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide daily support for the RealEstate Department
Review one-time expenses, verify validity and process through Basware (also process Property Project one-time invoices in Basware).
Route documents for signature, draft letters to send for full execution and send them out.
Invoice tenants with their pro-rata share of expenses, reconcile tenant's monthly estimates and obtain COIs from the tenants.
Request new vendors and vendor changes including verifying the Ach account information.
Request COIs for new leases or new landlords.
Sort, scan and send mail for the department.
Draft security deposit refund request letters and follow up on the refunds.
Assist with boxes going to and from Iron Mountain.
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and Microsoft Products.
Proficient user of database applications.
Math skills including percentage calculations and reconciliations
Must be detail oriented
