JPM Alternatives Real Estate (JPM Alts) identifies, analyzes, acquires and manages commercial and residential real estate investment through a variety of ownership structures including public and private vehicles. As investment manager on behalf of its clients, JPMIM develops, redevelops and operates these properties. JPMIM also assesses capital markets and controls investment risk in determining the optimal financing, diversification and disposition strategies for the managed real estate.

The Tax Department of the Real Estate Investment Group seeks a Tax Associate with approximately 3 to 5 years of financial services tax experience, preferably real estate, to assist with the financial management of its real estate investments including client and internal reporting requirements.

The Tax Analyst will work closely with an experienced group of professionals and generally be involved in many aspects of real estate tax analysis, accounting, taxation, internal controls, and property management oversight.
Primary Responsibilities



General understanding of investment structures, partnership agreements, purchase and sale agreements , Federal, state and foreign tax issues. Coordination and review of federal, state and local tax notices along with carrying them through to the appropriate resolution. Assist with periodic diligence and reporting obligations under Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA and Common Reporting Standards (CRS). Assist with quarterly and annual REIT test. Assist with state and local compliance for property investments. Assist Tax Director/Manager with quarterly tax provisions. Assist with the monitoring of federal, state and local income tax filing requirements of real estate investments. Assist with coordination and maintenance of Fund control logs and structure charts. Assist with 1099 reporting and maintenance for vendor payments. Assist with continuous monitoring and maintenance of investor tax documentation in order to properly comply with the withholding rules. Assist with ASC 740 documentation across various Funds and Separate accounts. Assist with quarterly tax filing and payment process. Maintain and update REIT investment schedule quarterly. Aggregate and summarize financial statement and related information for the preparation and filing of the federal, state and local tax returns. Assist with investor requests and tax leakage analysis. Assist with annual investor reporting on various Funds. Assist with inquiries from various Investment Management teams. Support Tax Director/Manager on adhoc projects


Experience Desired


Minimum 3 years of financial services tax experience, preferably real estate Experience in financial related capacities preferred Candidate should have a strong tax analytical and problem-solving skills Candidate should possess organized work habits and ability to complete task independently.
