JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) at Penn State seeks to hire an employee to work part-time on data entry related to water quality issues related to shale gas development and coal mining. The job would begin in Fall 2022. A candidate who could work on the project into the summer or longer would be preferable. The successful candidate will have good computer skills with knowledge of (at least) Excel and Word. Data input skills are needed, along with the ability to stick with and accurately complete tasks that require a strong attention to detail. Someone familiar with GIS would be desirable but not required.
The employee would need to be available to work at least 10 hours per week, on campus. The schedule could be flexible based on other commitments, but it would be desirable to establish a consistent work schedule with several multi-hour blocks of time during the workweek (Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm). Starting pay would be $15.00 an hour, with potential for an increase if the employee shows attention to detail and is efficient. As the employee progresses on the project, opportunities for data analysis could be provided.
