Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect.
The Center for Human Services (CHS) located in Stratford, Connecticut is a CARF accredited, Department of Public Health licensed, medication-assisted treatment program for opiate addicted persons utilizing prescribed methadone or buprenorphine/suboxone, and supportive counseling in conjunction with other support and referral services. The persons served attend individual counseling to address drug use/abuse, personal/family, employment, health, and legal issues. Group and family counseling, in addition to intensive outpatient services are offered to those who voluntarily seek additional support. Clients at CHS also have access to psychiatric care.
In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, counsels individuals and/or groups regarding substance abuse problems and co-occurring disorders, and develops and implements a therapeutic treatment plan by performing the following duties.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Implements therapeutic treatment using approved methods of planning, counseling, case management and crisis intervention to assist clients in overcoming substance abuse disorders and other co-occurring issues.
Prepares and maintains records on assigned caseload and issues reports, according to Agency and regulatory body standards.
Ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
Conducts screening, intake, orientation and multi-dimensional assessment of clients to obtain information concerning substance abuse and medical history or other pertinent information.
Consults with Clinical Coordinator, Medical Doctor, Psychiatric staff or other specialists concerning treatment plan and amends plan as directed.
Provides information and education to individuals, families and groups concerning substance abuse and mental health disorders (co-occurring disorder).
Refers clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling.
Is an agency-approved driver.
Provides coverage support for administrative positions as needed.
Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills and customer service representation.
Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling.
Knowledge of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) requirements and core principles.
Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients.
Ability to meet Agency and regulatory body standards of documentation.
Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health issues.
Knowledge of community resources. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Licensed alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC)
Bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required

Supervised Apartment Programs This program, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, provides residential supervised housing services to individuals who have psychiatric disorders and are involved in the state mental health service system.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm; Friday 4:00pm- 12:00am
CORE FUNCTIONS:
Assess and record medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to the individuals unique circumstances, including an assessment of strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
Plans and records the individuals progress with regard to finances, employment, nutrition, basic needs, housing, physical, mental health, well being, including any identified substance use disorders.
Assertively links person served to community resources and other natural supports.

Assist all Program clients in the areas of health and safety and in the acquisition of independent living skills, including personal hygiene, meal planning, cooking, cleaning and money management.
Provide transportation.
Count controlled medication at the change of each shift. Supervise the administration of clients' self-medication protocols.
Assist clients in the scheduling of personal appointments. May accompany clients to appointments.
Read and write in communication logs, progress notes, and other departmental communication tools to ensure understanding and adherence to changes in client's recovery plans and/or client/program's needs or concerns.
Provide crisis assessment and intervention, utilizing clinical and emergency back up as indicated. Communicate client needs with hospital emergency rooms and emergency personnel.
