Chestnut Health Systems coordinates the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) Council for McLean County, IL, and has an immediate opening for a recovery specialist. Collaborate with others who are passionate about creating a community that supports recovery and a sober lifestyle. Position is full-time and is based in Bloomington-Normal, IL. Model, teach, and support skills needed to facilitate individual recovery and self-efficacy. Help clients to identify personal strengths and barriers to achieving treatment and recovery goals. Link clients to recovery communities, natural supports, and sobriety-based activities, transporting clients as needed. Support and encourage interventions that are client-centered, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and strengths-based. Help with ROSC grant deliverables.

Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.

Position requires lived mental health or substance use experience. Position requires high school diploma or GED degree with active CADC or CRSS certification OR a high school diploma or GED with five years' experience and must obtain CADC or CRSS certification within 2.5 years of hire date. Ability to work with persons in their natural environment. Good oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and an electronic medical record. Must have valid driver's license, good driving record, and be insurable.

The Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) will follow best practices to provide behavioral health services that foster supportive peer relationships with and among the persons enrolled in behavioral health services and other related programs. The PRS by definition is a person in recovery who will utilize her/his personal recovery experience to instill a sense of hope and optimism for persons in recovery. The PRS will demonstrate a personal belief in recovery and a sincere interest in the welfare of persons in recovery. The PRS will demonstrate the ability to engage and serve the consumers enrolled, contribute to the overall success of the consumer's recovery process and carry out duties with flexibility and an individual focus. The PRS will promote and contribute to the development of a culture of recovery and empowerment within and outside of the agency and will uphold the integrity of program goals. In addition the PRS will complete detailed and accurate encounter notes and other reports to document program measures including but not limited to Monthly Programmatic Report to BHS Baltimore. The PRS will conduct peer support groups to assist persons enrolled in behavioral health services to realize their personal goals in treatment, employment, education and all other life changing opportunities. The PRS will report directly to the Clinical Supervisor on all matters pertinent to the successful obtainment of program goals and standards.
REQUIREMENTS:

+ Applicants must have completed the state approved CCAR/WRAP training and/or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.

+ A self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who can relate to others who are now using these services.

+ Demonstrate an understanding of Recovery Supportive Services.

+ Have a High School diploma or GED.

+ Has maintained sobriety/recovery for a period of no less than 2 years.

+ A commitment to recovery, choice, empowerment, and the ability of people with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders to find meaningful lives in the community.

+ Ability to establish a trusting relationship with peers, including excellent interpersonal skills.

+ Detail oriented with good writing and organizational abilities.

Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive "whole health" services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social determinants of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in five Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

Position Summary

The Certified Recovery Specialist will engage and advocate for consumers in recovery goals while providing peer support services and consumer information in emergency, outpatient, or inpatient settings under supervision.

Education/Experience/Requirements

+ High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related field from a college/university by the U.S. Department of Education preferred. Completion of State-Approved training program and passing score on certification exam.

+ One (1) year of related experience in a service capacity to individuals in need (e.g., children, youth, elderly, physically, emotionally, and/or mentally disabled, special needs, nursing care, etc.) required if no Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

+ Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between facilities, as well as a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization
