Recreation Department
Starting at $11.50/hr.
The Rainbow Preschool is located inside the Troy Community Center. Preschool Aides assist Preschool Instructors to develop the social and communication skills of children and provide a safe and secure environment in which the child can learn. They focus on optimum child development and preparation for a successful transition to primary school education.
DUTIES
Assist instructors to implement developmentally appropriate instruction for children ages 3 5 years old. Keep children engaged. Attend to children's basic needs. Work as a team member, collaboratively solve problems with the team. Assist with daily tasks including cleaning toys and classroom surfaces. Prepare activities for children, make copies and other hand-on work. Performs related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS
At least 18 years of age, high school degree or GED equivalent.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting and with children, families, and staff. Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Must be CPR and First Aid Certified within 90 days of hire. Possess and display enthusiasm and energy about and around children. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana) and be found eligible through a federal law that requires a comprehensive background check that is completed through fingerprinting.
PREFERENCES
Previous experience working with children, especially ages 3 5 years old. CPR and First Aid Certified at time of application
HOURS :
Approximately 20 - 25 hours per week September - May. Work times vary between 8:00 AM 3:30 PM Monday Friday. Limited summer hours July - August.

FUNCTION: The person in this position will fill a variety of program needs. Responsibilities
Summary:
• To assist in the implementation and supervision of various programs taking place in conjunction with the Recreation Center. This could include monitoring the facilities, special events, classes, field trips and various programs, leagues, and tournaments.
• Supervision: Helps supervise facilities and volunteers
Program Development: Assists in these areas
• Assist in such programs as: Pickleball, Kroc Splash Pond, Summer Camp, Afterschool Program, Youth and Kroc Kids Programs, Corps Programming, Leagues, tournaments, Open Gym Time, Kroc Park Activities, Etc. Includes setting up and taking down equipment
• Assists with any specialized recreation program in the department

• All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Fitness & Recreation Department Management Team

Functions:
1. Assist the supervisor, recreation in planning, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive and diversified program which will attract voluntary participation.
2. Organize and supervise student participation in a variety of recreation activities.
3. Conduct and coordinate recreation activities.
4. Chaperone students to center recreation functions.
5. Assist with monitoring of the student store.
6. Assist in the evaluation of DVD/video offerings through student input and personal evaluation and make recommendations as necessary.
7. Participate in Career Development Services System (CDSS) by creating positive peer leadership and role modeling techniques through activities on and off center.
8. Participate in student employability programs and activities.
9. De-escalate potential verbal or physical student altercations.
10. Provide support with daily unauthorized absence retrieval to improve student retention.
11. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
12. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and one year recreation experience or verified voluntary experience. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
