Qualifications:

Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) to join a collaborative inpatient behavioral health team. This role focuses on the psychiatric inpatient population, with a strong emphasis on geriatric patients, including individuals with dementia and behavioral issues.
As part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, the Recreational Therapist will design, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation interventions that promote coping skills, cognitive functioning, reality orientation, socialization, and independence in activities of daily living.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and facilitate individualized and group therapeutic recreation programs
Conduct and sign off on recreational assessments (CTRS required)
Lead structured therapeutic groups and complete all required documentation
Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and interdisciplinary team members
Maintain therapeutic boundaries and professional rapport with patients
Support cognitive stimulation, emotional regulation, social skills, and independence

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from an accredited institution in:
Therapeutic Recreation, or
Behavioral Health-related field
CTRS certification (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification) - Required
Experience or training in treating individuals with mental/psychiatric illness
Strong background or interest in geriatric populations
Ability to relate effectively to patients with dementia and behavioral challenges
