The Summer Program Seasonal Outdoor RecreationSpecialist supports the efforts of Outdoor Recreation staff and mission by assisting with the implementation, evaluation, and instruction of outdoor recreational activities to enhance the appreciation of nature and support health and wellness initiatives for people of all ages and abilities. This is a short-term, entry-level opportunity designed to help candidates develop professional skills in the field of Adventure Education/Outdoor Recreation.
Provides outdoor recreation programs that serve to enhance Cleveland Metroparks conservation, education and outdoor recreation mission and to promote environmental education and stewardship.
Presents quality outdoor recreation programs and summer camps within the park district and at off-site locations using established programming lesson plans and materials.
Establishes program goals and objectives in cooperation with supervisor(s).
Participates in special events or projects as assigned.
Assists in evaluating programs, offers recommendations for improvement and actively participates in debriefs for program revisions.
Demonstrates organizational skills including verbal communication, problem solving, and conflict management.
Drives Park District vehicles to transport equipment and/or program participants as required.
Assists in maintaining equipment and program materials.
Inspects and performs light maintenance.
Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Examples of Duties (Illustrative Only): Provides outstanding customer service; Sells all tickets and gift certificates for Fraze events from computerized system (training available); Sells artist and Fraze-branded merchandise; Reconciles daily sales; Answers phones and general questions pertaining to the Fraze; Heavy lifting moving and standing for long periods of time; Must be able to work at times in high volume high activity/noise areas and/or inclement weather; Hours vary depending on event schedule and may go past midnight on major show nights; Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must excel in customer service.
Must be self-motivated and have an enthusiastic attitude along with tact and diplomacy.
Must be able to work with large amounts of cash accurately.
Must be able to work on multiple tasks at one time with minimal direction.
High school degree required.
Previous ticket-selling experience preferred.
Cash handling experience required.
Compensation: Pay range $10.
95 - $12.
30 per hour.
Entry rate is contingent upon candidate's related skills knowledge and abilities.
These seasonal positions work up to 40 hours per week for no more than 6 consecutive months.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform light physical labor including lifting tables/chairs, moving equipment and setting up rooms.
